Forums - Gaming - Could Ratchet And Clank Future steal some of Super Mario Galaxy's thunder?

Euhm I think you made an error in your title, it's the otherway around. Seriously for a title to take away the thunder of another game here are the qualifications:

1. Must be on the same platform (example: Halo 3 will have no effect on SMG sales)

2. Must be 2 games that are very alike in terms of gameplay of wich one is superior (just think of any sequel)

3. Must be released in the same timeframe

Edit: R&C doesn't fit the first 2 requirements, not even close.

Also, just based on the demo, I already like it WAY more than Sunshine.

Repeat after me.  Anything new is automatically better than anything old.

It's when they're both old that things get interesting and some things get old really fast (some don't).

No way. I'd rather Play R&C 1 than Sunshine. That game pissed me off. I always thought it was funny that Luigi and Mario both had their own games on gamecube, and Luigi had a vacuum cleaner when Mario had a water gun.

So Luigi sucks and Mario blows.

I kid. I love the Mario games. With the exception of Sunshine.

That was to be taken for granted I thought.  Sunshine was disappointing as Mario games go.  Not even half as amazing as Super Mario Bros. 3, World, or 64 IMO.

Sunshine was also dissapointed for me, EVEN Reggie said Sunshine is not so good.

Banjo sucked. The games were good, but the characters were totally lame.

Platform games by nature have rather lame mascots.

Yeah, but the others aren't a banjo playing bear with a bird strapped to his back, that constantly laughs like a retard and never says anything.

I fully agree with you there. Yes Banjo kazooie was terrific but Rare cant make half decent characters to save their lives. Most of the time all Rare would do is place a pair of eyes on an object and give it a silly name.

But on topic: No way, Mario has no equal.

It comes out right before SMG and appears to be an extremely well made game. I've even read one preview in which the writer says: "If your friends ask you why you spent so much on a PS3 show them this game". I'm curious what you guys think, if this game comes out and scores >90% or even if it shockingly scores better than SMG would that cause SMG to lose some of it's appeal?

I read some reviews that suggested it was a prettier version with more of the same.  Super Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, is liquid cool and looks to bring some fresh ideas to gaming.  These games don't belong in the same league.

I thought Mario Squirted during Sunshine? (ed. Note: Ewww)

Actually, just borrowed it from a friend. If it didn't have that damn water gun, I think I'd enjoy it a lot more, controls very well. Just... weird.
