Also, given Gordon Freeman is the main icon of a PC game developed by a bunch of ex MS staff it's hardly anti-MS to vote for him. Just recognizing he's cooler and the main icon of a more influential FPS series (is this flamebait? first time for me).

O.o Dude, MC is the mascot of Xbox, and GF is one of, if not the most visible, mascot of PCs. Both of them are Microsoft and both are big.

And you're the one who decided the pairings, just like you made it MC vs Fenix, it's now MC vs GF. It's MS vs MS. I'm sure Sony fanboys voted MC in spite right?

I chose Gordon Freeman, not because I'm a Xbox fanboy, or a PC fanboy, but because I thought that GF was more unique, while MC was an character in a overused occupation (Space Marine) and look (Helmet looks like Doom guy's, armor isn't specially unique, just the helmet really that gave him an iconic look).

This poll isn't just for Microsoft fans, and you should stop thinking in such fanboy/conspiracy terms >.< This is the third time, 2 times for MS fanboys, 1 time from a Sony fanboy (don't worry, there were a shit load more of Sony conspiracy threads in the past, as well as Wii... they always think there's a conspiracy) thinking in such conspiracy terms.

I'm sure you thought that the L4D2 boycott was orchestrated by Sony fanboys, instead of the conservative PC camp.

I'm not arguing for my sake, I was just serving as an example of how people could vote for Freeman in non-fanboy terms. I think most of the automatic Freeman votes were simply from the PC camp if anything.

I'm arguing that it's absurd for you to come to such a conclusion, when it could easily be said the same thing if MC was being voted for. Both are big, and both are iconic. For you to think that MC is so above and beyond Gordon Freeman in leagues is absurd. You really underestimated GF IMO and overestimated MC.

Actually, last time I looked both Half Life and Half Life 2 had higher metacritc scores than Halo 2 and 3 with Halo 1 point ahead (for Xbox with Halo on PC behind when judged as a PC title), plus on sales HL I'm pretty sure sold over 10M while Half Life 2 sold I believe 7M at retail plus an unknown (and probably very large) number of digital copies.

So factually I'd say these are two huge FPS series, essentially neck and neck as the big hitters of their respective platforms (PC and Xbox/360).

Don't let your annoyance with someone cause you to make the same mistake.  Half Life is a huge FPS juggernaut on PC just as Halo is on Xbox, which one you prefer is going to be down to personal preference - because going by scores, sales, etc. there is no big difference.

Freeman is a mascot of the PC (as MC is with Xbox) which is the entire symbol, no, the foundation, of Microsoft... Like the other poster said, both games had huge sales, legacies, fanbases, and critical awards. That's why I find it absurd that you consider it strange that MC isn't winning. Sorry that the poll you created isn't going the way you wanted O.o
