Forums - Gaming - Did you hated a game the first time than like it the next time?

why should I even consider to play it again if I already hate it??

Guys, the question makes sense, well at least the thread title. I never beat a game I hated, I beat games I like.

Imagine you played a game when you were little and hated it because of the difficulty level or something... A few years later, you play it and you can beat the first stage finally!

For some reason, your gamer reflexes "upgraded" in the past few years and you can defeat games with more ease and appreciate all the subtle things in them now. I remember I wasn't that good at any NES Mega Man games in the past and I always had my little Nintendo Power books with all the maps to the levels (I did it for Mega Man 3 and 4). Just recently, I played the original Mega Man again (I only played it once in my life), and I completed the game in one sitting!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

F-Zero X.

I don't know why but I just didn't enjoy the first time I played it so I put it on a shelf for like a year. After playing it a bit later, it went on to become one of my favorite N64 games of all time.

I have no idea why I didn't like it the first time I played it though.

Fallout 3

Didn't hate it but I didn't like it all when I played it for the very first time (probably because I just rushed through the game) but just looking back on it, I decided to try it again and then I ended up loving it

Favorite films. Foreign films forever!

Gears of War. Really, I played it and hated the controls (had never played anything like it before), so I stopped. Then I played Dead Space and loved it, came back and Gears is now one of my top franchises of all time.

I hated Xcom UFO defense when I first played it. But I was really young at the time. I sat on the disks for a few years and when I came back to it, it was a competely different experience. Its still in my top 10 games of all time to this day.

Tease.

Guitar Hero I tried it out at a friends house and I absolutely thought it sucked. Then I bought Rock Band because of the Drums and Microphone (the wife likes to sing) and ended up enjoying the guitar part more then anything else. I would later grow to actually like Guitar Hero. Other games I hated at first and later greatly enjoyed when I gave them a chance would be would be Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball, Tomb Raider, Halo, NCAA Football series, and Dance Dance Revolution.

I will also add that XBOX as a system in general. At the time I thought XBOX 1 totally sucked. I had Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PS2 during the last gen and loved all 3.  So obviously DC died an early death and support was pulled, so I was down to two systems that were current.  So then my 2 year old son breaks my gamecube right around the same time as E3 in 2005. Nintendo had announced the Wii and that it would be backward compatible so no sense in replacing it (even though the Wii would be 1 1/2 years off).  I still had my trusty PS2.  During the E3 that year both the XBOX 360 and PS3 were also announced, but the surprise was that 360 was launching in only a few months. They expressed that every video they showed was legitimate real gameplay and Gears of War looked impressive. Then Sony stole all the thunder with the PS3, its specs were better, and then the Killzone 2 video was beyond anything I ever thought was possible. Then Sony reduced the specs after the 360 launched, then they got found out about the KZ2 video being a 100 % fake CGI video. Then they announce at $600 (remember the $500 one was added later to get critics off their back), and I just decided I was done with Sony and jumped in the 360 arena about 6 months after launch.  Next thing you know I honestly can tell you the XBOX 360 is probably the best game system ever made, and it is constantly evolving into something bigger and better each year.

No. Once I hate it, I never touch it again.

4 ≈ One

Mass Effect & Fallout 3 were both like this for me

It happened to me with Dragon Quest VIII. I thought the game was a lot too simple the first time I played so I didn't finished it but then I tried it again some times after and loved it.
