Forums - Gaming - why do people like pc gaming? help me understand

I have hard time playing shooters without mouse & keyboard and there aren't any decent strategy games on consoles. Then there is the customization, you can get all kinds of neat mods for your games. Also there's a lot of microsoft exclusives on the pc too so I don't have to pay for the consoles.

For me:
-Cheaper Games
-Mouse/KB is great for FPS's
-Free updates

-PC exclusives

-RTS's

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

-Jim Sterling

Because of Diablo series, RTS , starcraft and MMO's.

The 500$ pc's they're talking about are either refurbished or u have to mount it yourself.

Alienware is the best pc to play games on, and it's very costly.

P.S " and facepalm at you for saying controllers are better than keyboard and mouse...

ha ha and when a new game come's out you need to upgrade your pc for hundreds of € to play the game..

You not alone on this one, i really can't understand that people actually enjoy playing an FPS on a PC..or fifa the controls are terrible...

Ignoring your points... most of which are silly...

The best reason?

Mods.

There are brilliant brilliant nerds who end up making Mods for a lot of games that greatly extend the time you get with games you love...

New scenarios... hell sometimes even new games to the point of where the modder likely put in as much effort as anyone on the original design team.

And they're free.

For some games you'll spend more time playing mods then the released games!

Blood custom scenarios in Age of Empires 2 *drools*

I dunno what blood custom means... but i played the hell out of custom age of empire 2 scenarios.

That and the Custom AI's back when that one site held the "AI wars".  All sorts of fun.

The blood scenario maps like Archers Blood, Holy Blood, Castle Blood, Paladin Blood, ect. They usually consisted of placing a unit on a special point where a whole bunch of those units would spawn in and you can use them to battle it out with other players while protecting your main building (where you instantly die when it's destroyed). Then once you get enough kills, other spawnable units would open up.

Yea, I did an AI war once. I pit a rushing AI vs a well structured AI. It looked like the rushing AI would win at first, but it's opponent was able to endure enough that the rushing AI eventually ran out of resources.

Ooooh yeah those were good.  So were the RPG scenarios.

Yeah, the AI wars were cool.  I collected as many custom AI's as I could to watch them battle each other and to play against.

I wish I could find another game that had so many custom AIs.

This is obviously a troll thread.

Ha that's right, I remember playing a few RPG maps. I really wanted to make one but everytime I started hammering away with the cause and effect parameters the game would crash and I'd end up at the desktop without any error message or anything which was SO frustrating for me at the time. It was probably a RAM limitation and the fact that the computer wasn't too hot to begin with.

That and constantly retrying a room in Half-Life is probably what leads me to quicksave ALL the time in games. Don't want to lose your progress....

I have a 24" monitor that displays a resolution slightly better than 1080P with a computer that cost me around 550$. it plays everything including crysis(Medium--which is still better looking than anything on a console) and everything else on high, on 1920x1200.

I do the same thing.. in RPGs I save after practically everything.

Though the reason I do it is because one time I lost like a days worth of adventuring in FF1 when I was little.

Which in FF1 meant a LOT of grinding.

consoles are flop for FPS.
consoles are worst for RTS.
consoles are cheaper than PC.
If you have more money buy PS3 AND PC.
PC graphics >>>>>>>>>>PS3 garphics.mouse and keyboard are awesome for FPS AND RTS
gaming PC should cost approximately 700 to 800 dollars.
I bought my PS3 for 500 dollars (i think it is cheap)
