Forums - Gaming - why do people like pc gaming? help me understand

Aiming with a mouse is harder because you have to actually aim, whereas with a gamepad the game will do most of the aiming for you, which to a PC gamer dumbs down the whole experience. This and this alone is the reason why the console is no match for a PC in FPS. However, that may change completely in the next gen when all consoles have motion control.

You can turn it off if you wish, that is what I did with CoD4 I think.

Something that makes PC games overly enjoyable for me compared consoles, are MODS. I love them. Everybody else pretty much answered everything else.

Um, there's a little game called Starcraft 2 on PC only :P.

FPS are so much better on PC than consoles. You can also pirate games :D. Games on PC looks amazing, even better than consoles if you got a really good Graphics Card. I mean, look at Crysis for example.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

PC gaming is better than Consoles becasue.

1.Mouse Keyboard is easer to aim with when your good at it. (True)

2.Mods (True)

3.Graphics (Yes, if your PC is strong enough)

4.Online community (True, a more mature audience)

5.Steam/Xfire (True)

6.More games. (True)

7.Higher resoultion/Native 1200p (True)

8.HDD (True)

Consoles are better than PC because.

1.Controller is better for fast FPS,such as CoD4/Halo 3 and R2. (Hell no, Keyboard+Mouse totally rapes gamepads, especially if they're fast games. Console shooters like Halo 3 are SLOW AS HELL)

2.DLC is easy to find, you dont have to join any website (But they're not free... paid DLC is also easy to find on PC, since you only go to a service like STEAM or GFW to get them)

3.No virus (This isn't gaming related, since you will never get a virus from a PC game or PC gaming related stuff)

4.Always run the game tho not the best looking. (True)

5.ACHIEVEMENTS!!/Trophies (PC also has them. Steam for example has them, but the average PC gamer will never care about achievements)

6. In game voice chat and Cross game voice chat. (PC has these...)

7.Casual games (Guitar Hero) Sure there on PC but who plays them on it? (One of the biggest markets for PC games is the casual market...)

8. -/+ Screen size  50+ (You can connect your PC to your HDTV...)

So PC wins 8-1 against Consoles.

And don't forget that PC can't do HD!!!!

Correct, it just does Uber HD instead :P

Though since you can buy monitors marketed as HD with resolutions of 1920x1080 and they also include HDMI connectivity and since PC games can support that resolution, it leaves me scratching my head if somebody claims that.

I'd say this resolution thing is more geared towards TV markets since it doesn't really matter for running your PC games since all you have to do is choose resolutions that make the game look good or give you more frame rates and you're done.

Back to the OP,

In my opinion, those points are laughable.

Some people like the experience PC gaming gives them. The online is likely to be better, controls are probably better, and overall the game looks/plays better on a PC than a console. Good PCs can be had for about $500+ if you look around for deals, and they should be fine in running every recent game, just maybe not at the max settings. There are also games that control much better on the PC. Most FPS gamers prefer the mouse and keyboard, real-time strategy games give much better control on a PC, and then games like The Sims really are just much more PC oriented. It's perfectly fine to prefer console gaming, but PC gaming offers a lot to gamers and many people take advantage of that.

I like Phoenix Wright the best.

The controls suck? *facepalm*

Per pixel accuracy isnt your thing?

Ignoring your points... most of which are silly...

The best reason?

Mods.

There are brilliant brilliant nerds who end up making Mods for a lot of games that greatly extend the time you get with games you love...

New scenarios... hell sometimes even new games to the point of where the modder likely put in as much effort as anyone on the original design team.

And they're free.

For some games you'll spend more time playing mods then the released games!
