Forums - Sales - MikeB's past predictions

I didn't say that. And never did I with regard to the PS2 neither.

The Wii and PS2 are certainly part of this generation with regard to sales and global usage. Then you have the technology generation perspective, like we had the 8-bit vs 16-bit era generation. This is seperate, the c64 for example did outsell the Atari ST when it when both were available on the market, but the ST was a 16-bit computer and the redesigned c64 was part of an older technology generation.

I still don't understand what you're saying and how it relates to this generation at all

Not right now, but soon. I think perspectives on this will change within a year or two. Neither do I think Sony should discontinue the PS2 too soon, but within a year or two I think it probably will be a good idea. HDTV is making significant progress into people's homes.

I honestly think people don't give two shits whether or not the Wii is HD. Do you think the average consumer CARES if Super Mario Galaxy's edges aren't sharp enough? Do you think they would be angry having to pay an extra 50-100 dollars for minor-moderate graphical improvement? Of course they'd be angry. And do you think Nintendo would be making as much profit? No, it would cost higher to produce. This means a price rise, and, honestly, it won't get sales. To the elite who give a shit about graphics, maybe, but it does not make ANY sense to make a Wii HD. Next gen, the Super Wii should be HD, but to release a new model that costs more and losing more money on it just to get few sales from it? No.

Wait did MikeB just say he admits when he is wrong?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my goodness I just died laughing here at my desk.

We have a problem with him because he purposely tries to deceive people. Like he tried to show the PS3 tracking above the PS2 when it was not, and he tried to show the Xbox 360 DVD drive read slower than the PS3 blu-ray drive, which it does not, and so on and so forth.

And no one ever said he had shares with sony. He has a personal business called "Fun Computing" where he wanted to advertise and sell PS3's as both gaming systems and computers. He was also in talks with Sony to try and get the Amiga OS on to PS3 hardware, which would make him quite profitable.

These are why we cannot take any of his threads seriously because he obviously has some strong personal agendas.

You don't have to be a complete ass. You can be civil about it, you know?

I'm sorry, but when someone tells a joke, do you not laugh?

Also, civility and respect is earned.  MikeB has fully earned every negative thing anyone has said about him, including my laughing at him.

A quote please, I never said that. In fact I stated the exact opposite, it would be too costly for Sony to sell the PS3 around PS2 levels early on.

I did make comparisons with the sales of the PS1, but that's of course something else.

He was also in talks with Sony to try and get the Amiga OS on to PS3 hardware, which would make him quite profitable.

I talked to a lot of people in the past, I don't see why this matters. And no, AmigaOS4.x is far from ready to go prime time at this point. Fans however IMO do need better options than those that are currently available, options for AmigaOS4.x so far have been overpriced, underspecced, not multi-functional and there's minimalistic hardware support within the mainstream market. AmigaOS is more of a hobby project for me.

Perhaps it was the PS1 that you said and not PS2.  Either way you were wrong.  The PS3 is tracking well behind the PS1, even.

Noooo....you got it all wrong, nightsurge. MikeB is just a technology enthusiast.

Hmm, I wonder what he thinks of Natal & the Wii Vitality Sensor or is his enthusiasm only for Sony tech nowadays.

/sarcasm aside

MikeB says he admits he's wrong but (just like a politician) after 3 pages of commenters refuting his claims, he alters his original statement and THEN claims he still thinks he's right.

Being in 2nd feels so much better than being in 3rd

Nice, now start a thread with all the predictions and propoganda you've posted that are completely false. I like how with the slim Sony have decided the install another OS feature has been removed, a feature you heavily championed in the past...

I still think it is great to have the Cell SDK available on home PS3s. Apart from allowing programmers to investigate the Cell more closely I think this also helped technology discussion. However I think people who were really interested getting into the Cell already bought a PS3, now Sony needs to focus more on the end user functionality and by dropping OtherOS support this cuts out a lot of potential issues people may run into. Probably a good decision from a costs (/support) perspective.

They cut it because they don't want to subsidize (and lose money with it) computing farms. As easy as that.

So which feature do you expect to be removed in the next revision MikeB that suddenly will not matter, the feature list is falling as quick as the price.
