Thats the real tragedy of the situation. I was really looking forward to a sci-fi trilogy. What concerns me even further is the fact that EA just got their hands on a MMORPG in development. Anyone who knows EAs history on the subject should be concerned. Well hopefully the first Mass Effect will have room to stand alone. |
My thoughts exactly. EA is trouble and this is worisome. Though in regards to your comments on Mass Effect, if a game needs high graphics to define itself then it really can't be all that great a game at its core. |
Good graphics are just another tool in a developer's toolbox and while they don't define a game but they can add a great deal to it. For example, if the style of the game is to be movie-esqe then better graphics will enhance that style.
This is very much akin to the Wii's pointer and motion controls. If the style of the game is such to take full advantage of them, the game will benefit from them. If not, well... you've seen Red Steel and similar ilk.
I have a great deal of faith in Bioware but none, zip, zero, ziltch in EA. For Bioware to merge into EA is akin to covering a sparkling diamond in tar. Let us only hope that beauty underneath can still shine through.
