Forums - Gaming - Why Wii can't attract traditional franchises?

Yeah, the Wii didn't follow tradition, so it makes sense that many of its games won't, either. Cheap dev costs and a new interface are a great opportunity to explore new ideas.

I get frustrated when games come to the Wii that don't embrace new ideas. I'm playing Little King's Story right now, and it's a great game, but the developers seem to have been under the impression that they were making a PS2 game. Where's the pointer?! Everything about the game is fresh and creative except the interface.

Even a lot of Nintendo's Wii games are more attached to their history than I think they should be.

The audiences who enjoy the franchises you listed? They're primarily on the HD consoles. Maybe not the RE fans, a lot of them own a Wii, bu for the others? Yeah.

HD-type games come out on HD systems because that's where the audience is concentrated.

I think it will be changing in the future.

Because most believe the Wii owners aren't interested and for the most part rightly so. They built this console to NOT compete on the values of traditional games but new ones.

Seems everyone ignored this

It stems back to the last generation, where Nintendo proved to be safe investment for third parties, and so the third parties went to with Microsoft and Sony at the start of the generation which attracted the "core" audiences over to these consoles, and so Sony/Microsoft still remain the safer investment.

Main FF? Main RE? Talk about moving the goal posts. I don't see why these can't be included since I associate franchises with the name... even though Resident Evil 4 is on Wii.

The Wii is better anyway for getting exclusive games made specifically for it while the other two shares most third party games.
