Forums - Nintendo - Malstrom: Wii Hatred is about hatred of the new customers

lol, this is funny.

The article very much reminds me of the rise of the console gamers, when us PC gamers suffered. The art of mastering a difficulty and complexity of the game was a victim of catering to the more mainstream public of the console gamers - the ones that are called hardcore/core gamers now. And those who are now hating the Wii "mainstreams"

First, the adventure games have became irrelevant. The various aircraft/helicopter/submarine simulations have became a rare sight. Then, racing sims were developed for consoles first, and PC got shitty ports. So were sports games like fifa and so on. After some time, the only things that PC gamers had left were FPSes, RTSes and traditional RPGs/MMORPGs (and the sims yay) - well, with the "dumbing down for console gamers" the traditional RPGs are becoming a memory, and RTSes are close to suffering a similar fate. If there werent a few PC dedicated devs like Blizzard, Valve and Id, all PC gamers would be able to do is wait for bad ports of console games.

So, the history repeats itself again.

edit: forgot to mention the turn based strategies, which are very much extinct,
