Where do you live? USA go with 360. Elsewhere go with PS3.

I live in the USA, and this is also dumb reasoning too.  I agree with the guys above, the ones with the more games is the one i'll get.  I know the 360 has superior online, but man, thats just racist.

What I meant was. Do your friends have PS3 or Xbox 360? I only know 1 guy with PS3 and rest of them have 360. That one guy also has 360. If you don't have any friend with neither system then get PS3 since you have the PS3's game list longer.

Well alot of the guys I know at school are looking at getting Ps3s now b/c of the price drop but thats only to play killzone 2 / resistance 2.  I'm sure i'll be on lbp / ratchet / uncharted.

do you not own a ps3? do you not plan on getting on ever?

I don't need a PS3. I have more than enough games from 360 and PC to play. Already have blu-ray player and don't know what is better than LIVE.

As for pulling the trigger, i have a few reservations -

IF I get a ps3 I will have to buy a HDMI cable that doesn't come packed in, and I will have to get a headset, isn't that an extra 100 bucks :-/?

IF I get a ps3, I'll buy to buy live, and I'll miss out on Ratchet. I'll get Gears though :-/.

decisions...

As an owner of BOTH consoles, you can live without party system/ingame VOICE chat (there is group text chat in game) and XBL other than those features isn't any different to PSN, and as for BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY, EVERY PLAYSTATION 3 plays PSone games.

You get FREE PSN memebership, a BLU-RAY PLAYER (if you have an HD TV its a must, get HDMI too), and a load of more features that I cant think of..

home imo is continuing to grow, and that is the thing I see sony "stepping away from the competition" with. Hopefully..

Anyhow yes I recommend the PS3 far more than the 360, seeing as the PS3 is $299, but the 360 is only $199 (with alot less stuff but still..) if you can get both go ahead, if you cant definately the PS3

As an owner of both systems myself, Leo-J, I would say that XBLA still has a vastly superior library of games and DLC, but besides that, you're right. There is very little functional difference between XBL and PSN.

You're off your rocker though, if you think that Wipeout HD makes up for some of the godlike arcade games/dlc the 360 has been hit with over the years, and particularly this summer.

...and this is from someone who recommended the PS3 in this very thread.

Marginalizing that content is bogus.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

You don't NEED anything... the 360, having a great video card, a Bluray player, etc.

If you WANT the games the PS3 has eventually, you really won't get it if it becomes dirt cheap? You don't desire to play games and have fun?

Shit no. You can get a 1.3b cat 2 6ft hdmi cord from Amazon for 10 bucks.

Buy mediabridge, they're better than monster cables, and are 1440p ready.

But I don't think the 360 Elite comes with an HDMI cable anymore so you still have to buy one anyway. Same thing with the headset.

....er, also about the headset, I have no idea. I misread your last statement.

Anyway, HDMI cables are cheap, just make sure you get 1.3

O.o? You don't have to get the Bluetooth set, or if your family already has one you could use that (not just the official PS one). You could also buy a really cheap USB input headset like I did for like 14-2X bucks. HDMI's you can buy cheaply if you look on the net, or if the store provides one (it'll porbably be a little short).

The 360 has plenty of shooters, but not a lot of platformers. With PS3 you could get titles like LBP, Rachet, and a stretch would be inFamous (made by the developers of Sly)

Freudian slip?

It seems your heart has already decided, now only your mind has to follow.

This is IMO, pointless. You'll have a certain percentage of the Xbox community saying 360, the Sony community saying PS3 and the Nintendo community laughing at both sides...

I say, get whatever console you see fit to suit your needs:

- If it's Blu-ray movies, PlayStation exclusives and good media capabilities you want, get the PS3.

- If it's a premium online, larger library, and Netflix capabilities you want, get an Xbox 360.

- If it's innovation at an affordable price, with a pick-up-and-go appeal AND the largest library of the gen, go with the Wii.

Basically, I tried to lend you a hand the most reasonable way I could think of.

I think this thread has been pretty fair and balanced, actually. Most people backed up their opinions with intelligent reasonings, so I applaud it.
