Forums - Nintendo - Do you think that wii haters hate the console or Nintendo itself

Game companies were already closing and posting losses before the economic crisis started.

What the economic crisis may have done is make it harder for troubled companies to borrow money... accelerating their collapse, but not causing it per se (it's only recently that game sales have decreased year-on-year, and a lot of that is due to Nintendo's release schedule).

I like the Wii. However, I think those who hate the Wii hate it because of the lack of hardcore games and HD graphics. They aren't too impressed with the innovation part of the Wii with the motion control and all. They are more into graphics and not gameplay. That's just my opinion I guess. I could be wrong.

I guess wii haters hate the wii for the shit games that are mostly on it and the lack AAA 3rd party games, and this leads to hating Nintendo since it's them allowing all manner of crap to be on their console, as well as doing nothing proactive to try win over the 3rd parties, hell they could throw a few money hats around to try and get those AAA games they don't have on their machine instead of sitting on their laurels, counting their cash, thinking they'll hit their sales forecast despite sales being down same time last year, and practically ignoring everything and everyone...it seems to be the arrogant curse all the leaders seem to suffer from...I would of thought Nintendo to be immune but it seems they have surcome to the curse.

I could never hate Nintendo cause I grew up with their games, but I'm not happy about their whole philosophy with the Wii.

Ditto. But thankfully Nintendo made the DS.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It's mostly a hate to Nintendo because Nintendo refuses to follow suit to what other companies do even if it's become an industry standard. (HD graphics, DLC, inclusion of hard drive)

Nintendo has always been sort of controversial to gamers because they always try to change gaming. Back in the 80s, PC fanboys hated them for making games simpler with the NES while completely ignoring the fact that they saved gaming after the crash of 1983.

Gamers don't like change but they don't know that the gaming industry needs to change in order to survive.

That's false, why wouldn't they be into gameplay if there into graphics?

You speak as if HD graphics and good gameplay can not co-exist, but they can, and they do.

A dumb person would choose either graphics or gameplay, a Smart person would choose both, a Smart person would choose both because both are achievable, either through raw graphics power, or smart art style, the fact remains that both great graphics and fun gameplay can co-exist in harmony...and it is this that we as gamers should be asking for, best of both worlds if ya catch my drift.

Man, your post couldnt been much better if you had used the right games.

1. Wiifit

2. Wiisports

3. Wiiplay

4. Wiimusic

Those games put together outsold the games you spaek of, so please
Wait what? I'm confused. I was saying maybe those who don't like, own or plan to own Nintendo home consoles are tired of seeing certain Nintendo games at the top of aggregate sites like metacritic and gamerankings. That's all. It seems the Wii series has outsold the highly rated games i mentioned but my post had nothing to do with sales in the first place. What are you talking about?

First of All, wasnt it just Nintendo fans going crazy last year scared that GTA was, for a second , on top of Zelda, which we don't care about as much as seeing Wiifit closing the gap on The PS3.

I don't remember any of this, but then again i wasn't really paying attention last year so i can't confirm. I'm sure at least a few people are sick of the highly rated nintendo games though for various reasons. And if you're so afraid of Wii Fit closing in on the PS3 you can calm down because it wont pass it.

Who's woried about highly rated Wii games, I think the PS3 still has more and it's in third place.

Agree with you man. It is just silly to think that the Wii is the only one with good gameplay.

This is more of a matter of taste, and what you like to play, nothing more.

the lack of uber realistic HD gorefest and the fact that your grandma can beat you in a wii sports created wii hate

Tell that to the 150 million handheld owners.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
