Forums - Sony - Why is PS3 Slim so expensive in my country?

wanna better deal? ps3 slim preorders in my country are for the regular 360euros, they bumped up the price of ps3 80gb version to 375euros while 40gb(if you can still find one) got price drop to 280euros - and those are only consoles without games.

you can still get Xbox 360 Premium(Jasper chipset) with free Burnout Paradise and Trivial Pursuit for 280euros.

OK so aside from the USA and Japan is any other country actually getting a 25% price cut? Doesn't seem like it if even the Eurozone countries aren't seeing the price cut Sony are claiming applies to continental Europe.

I'm thinking there ain't gonna be much of a sales spike other than in Japan and the Americas. So much for massive sales increases.

There are still cuts, even if they aren't as big. In France and the other major Eurozone countries it is 300, and in the UK it is down from £300 to £250

No Denmark does not have Euro. Their currency is the danish krone =/

Well, there is still hope for you in Germany. I'm pretty sure the PS3 Slim is EUR 299 there.

Of course it will cost 299€ in mainland Europe. it just has been always more expensive in Scandinavia because of different tax methods and because Sony doesn't import itself consoles to Scandinavia. Sony has sold that right to Nordisk Films and that of course increases retail price.

We have Euros so it went from 399 to 299 (I bought mine at 399, I guess its 299 now?).

Although you never know, Wii is 260/270€ here. I bought mine for 270€ but my friend gave me this voucher for 20€ so it was 250€.

PS3 Slim at €349 at verkkokauppa.com was the cheapest I could find in Scandinavia after a short research. I wonder if Norway is paying the same price?

Europe got a E100 drop, we Britons got screwed as well, our prices have essentially changed from £270 as a bundle to £250 RRP standalone.

Was £270 the RRP, or the price after discounts?

I believe many retailers will sell the PS3 for £220 - 240 in UK.

@ NJ5, RRP was £300, but there were good bundles

It's all thanks to the Scandinavian VAT & Nordisk film taking their cut from the price which increases the price. The 299€ price doesn't include VAT it comes on top of that (which is 22% more price here in finland at the minimum price).
