I see this argument brought up like every other day. What games are you talking about deadt0m? |
Every single non first party game that isn't a party game and doesn't involve a plastic guitar. Go find me the million-sellers on Wii that are third party action/fighting etc. games.
Conduit: 220k.
Mad World: 280k.
Punch Out: 510k. (and that is first party)
I'm too lazy to keep looking, but the only truly successful fighting game on Wii is brawl. Every single million seller on Wii is either first party, a party game, or a music game.

Yes i'm sure, what you're seeing are only the others numbers here are the rest of the sales:

The PS3 is a HD console, and the Wii version have outsold every PS3 version, which was the topic of the conversation. You didn't expect the Wii version to ousell botch HD versions, did you?
all the more reason to either
A- own two systems so you can cover all of your bases.
B- Get nintendo to rogue it and create their own, teenage pleasing fighter. If you can't join em- beat em ;o

You didn't read any post, did you?
@Falcon095
u sure it ain't just a double that the mods forgot to remove? both pages for the game use the same title and same box cover but only 1 lists the others sales as 0.07 while the other one doesn't list it at all. and yes i sorta do expect the will to outsell both versions or at least come close cause of all the hype, craze and sales i've heard about the wii these past years. plus the wii is only about 2 million units behind the combined sales of the ps3 and 360.

1. The default wii controller doesn't work well with tekkens control scheme. Infact the controls would feel gimped and the game would control pretty poorly on them. 2. You can't expect your consumer to have a different controller than the default one. Ofcourse you can take your chance and sometimes it works out well, while sometimes it doesn't. 3. It costs money to port the damn thing. Even if they just port the psp version. It still costs money. They have to develop a platform that works on the wii while incoorperating all tekkens systems and programming logic. 4. They have no idea how many additional sales it would give them. Quite possibly not that many, concidering that with the 360/ps3 install base, they've already covered most the fighter fans, and the remaining should be cought with the psp. Basically they offer the game to a large selection of gamers and while the wii certainly has a large userbase, it's common knowledge that the more common "gamers" on the system usually has either a ps3 or a 360 in addition to the wii. In other words. It's not worth it.
I don't understand why you wanna "argue" with my points. I'm just stating them. That's just how it is. I've repeated myself quite a few times now and i hope for it to get through this time.
That these are the reasons why I think it's not worth it for them to do the port and why I think they aren't doing it. Infact I think most of you are just complaining about not having it on the wii is because you want the game available on the system and not because you'd purchase it yourself for the wii if it was...Which is pretty much pointless.
In other words I do understand why you wanna play the game.. It is tekken afterall. Best fighting franchise by far. (In my opinion.) |
1 As a basic option for the average consumer who wouldn't care about this, it works fine. By this I mean people who know very little about the series. Most everyone else already have other options. I'm curious though, tell me why it would work terribly compared to something that would use PSP controls?
2 Most people who would be buying this game on the Wii, are also people who already have these options. If there is a default method(though one that works terrible) it still lets people to play the game until they upgrade to a new controller. I'm basically saying that the target audience for this game would either own a gamecube controller to play gamecube games, or a Classic controller for various reasons such as playing previous fighters that supported it or the VC. They are only limiting their userbase to what it was already. Everybody else will most likely not buy the game anyway. If it is really a problem then they can bundle the game with a Classic Controller like Capcom did for Monster Hunter 3. That makes your point less valid as it seems.
3 Of course, I'm not arguing this. I was arguing against what you were saying about the controls. I don't think it should be ported either, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible like you seem to make it out to be.
4 Look at 3.
The whole point of my post was to prove that it CAN work on Wii, not that it should. I'm fine with things the way they are now, and would buy the game for PSP unless the HD versions prove to add something other than better graphics and online.

You are a funny guy. I think you have the need for HD games to sell at least 1 million to break even, carried over into Wii territory, which it does not require, at all.
Last time I checked, Sega regarded The Conduit as a success, even with its mere 215k sold. The game obviously isn't done selling yet either so don't claiming that people aren't buying it. When the sales dip below 3k worldwide, maybe what you say will finally hold merit.I'm not trying to insult you in anyway, but still. The Conduit is a new game which didn't do anything to push the bar forward. All it did was provide a basic FPS effort from an unproven team. Reviews didn't exactly take to kindly to it either.
Madworld? You should already know as the epitome of niche. The short length seriously undercut the sales numbers as well. People were not willing to pay $50 for a 5 hour game. Notice how sales have gone up for Madworld in the past two weeks now that the price has dropped. It isn't a trend, but it is a noticeable event. The sales were underwhelming for Sega, but once again, it isn't done selling yet.
Punch Out? The sequel to a 15-year old game? It obviously has sold enough to Satoru Iwata, since he said it was a success in his recent Iwata Asks interview. Since when is 500,000 a bad thing anyway? It has been selling consistently in America as well.
Your generalizing idea of Wii million sellers can be applied to the competition as well. Every single million seller on the 360 is a shooting game, a sports game, or a violent sequel.
Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. " thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Well both show different number so it's kind of hard to know, but even supposing it didn't outsold the PS3 version of that year, the DS version sold .33 M while the PSP sold .77 M, does that mean that people prefer to buy games for PSP?
"Since when is 500,000 a bad thing anyway?"
If the game costs over $20,000,000. That clearly isn't the case with, as far as I know, any single Wii game.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
