Forums - Nintendo - Namco: Wii can't handle Tekken 6, PSP can.

Let me rephrase that. There was just as much reason to switch MH3 as there was to switch FFVII. Nintendo fans got over it (mostly). So should Sony fans get over this.

I agree completely.

What both axumblade and I were trying to say is that if ever there was a reason to complain, it'd be with cases like MH3 or FFVII. But for instances like this (Tekken 6), it just seems silly.

How would it be gimped if there would be other controls? It wouldn't be gimped at all, it would just make Wii controls not very good while other options good. That doesn't even make sense.

the fact that they arent good by default.

As I stated before, if it is the controls that are a problem then just outsource the game to 8ing, whom have developed the Naruto fighting games on the Wii using motion controls for combos.

Some characters in Tekken have over 100 unique moves. Compared to what, 5-10 in Naruto/Smash Bros?

Tekken fans have been playing with the same control scheme for 15 years now, you think they want to start over?

Who cares?

So buy a PS3 or 360.

This argument is old. How many times must the Wii get looked over or given some spin-off game before people stop complaining and just go buy a console that gets what they want?

Is like buying a PS3 then complaining it doesn't get any Metroid games.

You're missing the point.

Lack of Metroid games on HD systems : Nintendo IP

Lack of Tekken on Wii : Supposedly system incompetence (while PS1 and PS2 handled Tekken just fine and sold millions)

What's funny is that Wii only owners bitch incessantly about not getting games like this, but when they do get anything besides Mario or a party game, they don't even go buy it.

What, the Wii controls? If they aren't good what's stopping you from buying other control options?

Try to read what i've written instead of what you just want to read. I've already covered that. It's not viable.

And both him and I proved points that make it more than viable, which you have yet to argue with.

1. The default wii controller doesn't work well with tekkens control scheme. Infact the controls would feel gimped and the game would control pretty poorly on them.

2. You can't expect your consumer to have a different controller than the default one. Ofcourse you can take your chance and sometimes it works out well, while sometimes it doesn't.

3. It costs money to port the damn thing. Even if they just port the psp version. It still costs money. They have to develop a platform that works on the wii while incoorperating all tekkens systems and programming logic.

4. They have no idea how many additional sales it would give them. Quite possibly not that many, concidering that with the 360/ps3 install base, they've already covered most the fighter fans, and the remaining should be cought with the psp. Basically they offer the game to a large selection of gamers and while the wii certainly has a large userbase, it's common knowledge that the more common "gamers" on the system usually has either a ps3 or a 360 in addition to the wii.

In other words. It's not worth it.

I don't understand why you wanna "argue" with my points. I'm just stating them. That's just how it is. I've repeated myself quite a few times now and i hope for it to get through this time.

That these are the reasons why I think it's not worth it for them to do the port and why I think they aren't doing it. Infact I think most of you are just complaining about not having it on the wii is because you want the game available on the system and not because you'd purchase it yourself for the wii if it was...Which is pretty much pointless.

In other words I do understand why you wanna play the game.. It is tekken afterall. Best fighting franchise by far. (In my opinion.)

They are plenty people that would be new to the Tekken series and wouldn't mind starting with the Wii. Besides, it looks like Namco don't mind if they would want to start over.

I see this argument brought up like every other day. What games are you talking about deadt0m?

@animefobber: Opened your eyes about what? Wii owners? Just get out already. Your stupid arguement about standards is ridiculous and you are twisting things to support your arguement. Theres a fucking PSP version being made, what makes you think other people will not see it as inferior? Wii has to live up to its OWN STANDARDS not the ones set up by other consoles, this is why close minded people like you will never understand.

ooo.... seems like someone had a little meltdown :).  anyways i didn't say u had to agree with what i thought, i was just giving reasoning in response to ur complainin before that outburst of urs....

and there r also examples that contradict what you say (madden)

You know the Wii version of Madden has outsold the PS3 version every year, right?

Exactly. The only prior history between the Tekken and Nintendo was a GBA game in 2001. There have been no home console iterations of the game for Nintendo even. So why does everyone automatically expect it to go to the Wii?

It doesn't have to do with Nintendo being the highest selling console. That's one thing that always gets on my nerves when people compare the Nintendo's status this generation with Sony's status last generation. It's more to do with the fact that the Playstation brand thrived off of a lot of their third party sales. Nintendo don't. That's one of Sony's major downfalls of this generation honestly. They didnt' seem to realize that they needed the third party developers more then the third party developers needed them.

You just touched on the biggest issue that wii fans seems to have actually. The fact that they expect the tables to turn software wise just because it did hardware wise. Well it's pretty obvious that didn't happen. Although a lot of titles are third party they did go ps3/360 and left the wii out despite the larger user base. Or created an alternate wii game that's usually a more run down off the mill game. This is something they don't expect despite the lower hardware performance that they think only affects the graphics of the game which in reality it affects every aspect of a game. If you look at wii games in general they are more similar to playstation 2 and last generation games in .. how they play. (Not talking control scheme)

But sony has gotten a very strong first party. I have more ps3 games than ps2 games I think :p
