Forums - Nintendo - Fatal Frame 4 Translation Patch Almost Done. Able to be used on bought game

I just found this a few days ago. Now before you go all crazy and say "No!!!!!!!! patches = piracy", this one works different, and doesn't require a backup to mess with. You need homebrew(which as of now is perfectly legal btw), and it patches the game directly from an SD card. So you need a legit copy that you have imported/bought, though I guess you pirates could do it too. This is pretty amazing that it only took them a few months(they started around april I think) to translate the game. Right now it is at 90% complete and should be done any pretty soon. I originally was going to wait to import the game and play it when I get more proficient in my Japanese, but I'm glad I waited for this. Now my copy is on the way. They are also thinking about translating it to other popular languages.

Here is a youtube trailer:

Just letting you know that you won't need homebrew. I was wondering the same thing when I first heard about the patch. Hopefully it gets done by late September or October. Can't wait to finally play this.

Oh really? I assumed it did because in one of the videos they used the homebrew channel to "create" the patch. Also I think it will be here a lot sooner than that. Last time I checked it was wanted to be released sometime this month, but that doesn't seem like it will happen. Early September seems about right.

this guys are really bold posting the video and all, when nintendo finds out their are going to be taken down, its sad, but thats how companies work.

I doubt it.This video has been up since June. The series is too small for them to really care in the first place. This is especially when they don't  care enough to localize the game theirselves. I'd be surprised if they found out, and even more surprised if they wasted their time doing something about it.

Mother 3 fan translation didn't get taken down, I don't see why they would take down this.

Yeah I decided to contact the guy in charge of the translation project and asked him about the homebrew channel and he told me you won't need it.  Hopefully you're right about it being released in early September.

Wasnt this going to be released in Europe?
