Forums - Sony - Alright so we'll have two price cuts, which is more effective, why?

So, both the 360 and PS3 will have price cuts, the PS3 also gets a slim fit redesign.

The 360 just has a price cut.  It doesn't have a smaller case, etc, so price-wise it is still going to cost just as much to make.  The PS3 has a price cut but it is actually cheaper to make now, which will leave more money for things like marketing, money hatting for developers or whatever.  Hey this is all just a grand money game in the big picture anyway.  Sure MS's cut will help move some consoles but Sony's slim redesign and cut will help a bit more imho, especially in japan.

NEW & Slim model of the PS3 at 299$ > Same old 360 Elite at 299$ (IMO).

honestly...the 360 is dirt cheap as it is..it'll help but i really dont see any exploding sales at all....its like lowering $1.00 hamburger to 80c..its cheap as it is

The PS3 price cut will be more effective, because people wanted to buy a PS3, but the high entry price prevented them from forking over the cash. On the other hand, the 360 is more of an interim console, something you buy for cheap to entertain you until you can afford the console you really want. Now that the PS3 is coming into massmarket price range, further price cuts for the 360 are pretty much useless.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. This is exactly what I was thinking, down to the final sentence..........

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Depends on the region, SLIM everywhere but the U.S.

In the U.S. could be even.

PS3, by a long shot.
I agree with Rol for once, because there was popular demand for it, but the price stopped people, now the price is low, it's a steal basically for whoever wanted it.
When people go to the store, they will look at 360 and PS3, both same price, but which one really has more features?
PS3.

all depends on how low MS cuts

4 ≈ One

Sure it's the same model, but at least sony has a cheaper way to make the old console. I'm not sure how much cheaper but if I were to wager i'd say $30-$50. That will help the big S.

Oh, and I really think that a smaller version will help move some units for Japan, they have a maniacal love for smaller products that do the same thing as bigger ones
