Forums - Nintendo - Will the wii relinquish it's weekly WW sales crown over the next few week?

PS3 need a 300% boost to beat the Wii, it's getting a 25% price cut and a remodel, at best it will beat the Wii for the first week of the Slim release. The 360 got a small chance to beat it during the Halo game release. Other than that, no.

It simply will not happen.

Its simple - the price cuts will double or triple the current sales. So take the numbers in the WW sales and double them. If they are below the Wii, then no. If they are above, then yes - at least for a few weeks until the effect of the price cut dies down.

Remember, its the 4th year for the 360 and the 3rd year for PS3/Wii. A vast majority of potential console owners have made their purchases by now. Simply - don't expect miracles.

For a week absolutely, MAYBE two, depends on how successful the launch is.

If PS3 did not outsell the Wii on the slim launch, it would be rather embarrassing for Sony.

You're all forgetting Sony had to start their manufacturing over again. That leads to supply constraints in the beginning.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

DS is WW sales king not the wii,so...

^^
So..

That means that everyone that posted before had some degree of intelligence to distinguish between handheld portables with a builtin screen and those that connect to your TV so the whole family can take part via split screen so didn't bother to mention the DS or PSP.

Add me to the voice of No.

PS3 & 360 will indeed see boosts based on fence sitters. I count myself as one of them, but the price needs to be no more than $200 for me to buy either of these machines. I just don't see them other than better versions of last gen. So yeah I can easily see that the first round boost will beat out Wii sales. The thing is that Wii White is hitting a certain market saturation. I'm sure the sales could keep going, but it's getting to the point where it's time to excite the market again. Since the Wii doesn't compete on the same value curve the Wii Black is all that's needed.
