Man, fanboi idiocy is running high as of late.
I can forsee 2 outcomes of this little battle, and neither are really good for anyone.

The PS3 outsold the 360 during Holiday 2007 with Uncharted and Ratchet while the 360 had Mass Effect and Halo 3 and ODST isn't going to be as big as Halo 3. |
This topic makes a reference to dollars, it's regarding US sales only, which if you check, PS3 was still outsold in the USA despite the added "value" of
wi-fi - $100
Blu-ray player $400
Free online $300 (6 years?)
+20GB extra (back then $100)
So that was $50 more, for what would cost + $900 on 360
Break it down now
Wi-fi + 100
Blu-ray player $100
free online $200 (4 years)
0GB ($0)
So for $0 more, you only get an extra $300 of "value". The extra $50 was more worthwhile back then...plus you had other games like Heavenly Sword and Lair as well as Uncharted and Ratchet. So the lineups even less impressive this year.
And it's not just Xbox 360, but Wii as well. Since in terms of value, there's no reason for the PS3 to be outsold anywhere in the world by any other platform right? Even at $400 this was true, so why didn't it? Because Nintendo and MS have something Sony doesn't. Killer 5-10+ million sellers people want to play.

What 2 outcomes do you foresee?
that's cool, and it's sure to move consoles, having said that though I still reckon the PS3 will move way more console than the 360.
If you zoom out, you would know that Microsoft already had the pro at around 300 bucks, and all their doing is phasing out the pro and replacing it with the Elite, but the PS3 has not had a $300 version untill now, and their are allot of people who held off getting a PS3 because of the price, but now they'll get one because not only is it cheaper but it's also smaller...win win situation all around for the consumer.
Put it this way, the PS3 at the same price, offers a new slim redesign, Blu-ray movie playback, built in Wi-Fi, and free online...the PS3 simply offers more for the same price, it's a bang for your buck no matter how you cut it.
Now, the one that should be getting worried is Nintendo, their competition now have a console each that is only $50 more, but you get so much more for that $50 jump, and I'm talking about a hell of allot more value, but I think Nintendo, like the rest of us will wait for NPD to see how hardware sales are doing as well as how software is doing before reacting.
my 2 cents.
Do the math and figure out how much the PS3 has to outsell the 360 month to month to be able to take it over in sales by the time this generation has ended.
Then take a look at the exclusive titles PS3 has in store.
Then look at the two Halo games coming out this Fall and Spring.
Then take a look at the global economy.
Then please smack yourself in the face and retract the idea that this is a possibility. Millions of gamers weren't waiting for the magic 300 dollar mark to cash in on the PS3. Millions of people wish they had 300 dollars to pay bills.
Tell Susy homemaker that the 300 dollar PS3 is going to be worth more to her than the 199 Xbox 360, especially come Christmas when she has a budget of say 250 dollars to cover her kids, relatives and father, and then when she looks at the games selection for 19.99-29.99 and see there are more Xbox titles in that price range than the entire selection of PS3 software.
I'm not trying to be malicious sounding but sony fans are acting like 300 bucks is now a drop in the bucket and will be available to pick from tree tops. The OP was retarded but so are some of these responses.
So many PS3 fans replying.
Are you afraid or something? :)
Relax, people that want to buy a PS3 will get one, people that want to buy a 360 will get one. nothing really new.
sorry nope not happening, people could have a 360 piece of crap for 200.00 dollors, most that want one have one, everyone has been waiting for the ps3, the gaming machine of the future to lower there price, now that it has happened, its over. final fantacy, most dont want to deal with 3-4 dics to play the game, you will need that 120 gig hd. online play for free, wifi built in, blu ray , web browser, controllers that charge, you dont have to spend another 20 bucks per controller. even at that price point the ps3 blows the 360 out of the water in value and reliability. sorry to burst your bubble.

When the Arcade drops 50$ to 149$...it will be all over again. Half the price of the ps3.
And I hate when ps3 players use reliability as an argument...the Jasper chip is as reliable as a new ps3,and they are evolving this autum with the Valhalla syper chip...the CPU and GPU in 1 chip. I don`t know if it will be 65nm or 45nm...but it will be 45nm eventually.
Between 149$ and 299$,what will the consumer get? Both have exclusive games, and the consumer is probably looking for a console, not just 1 game.
"sorry to burst your bubble".
