TNA was pretty bad. Just when they needed a good show. I should just start only watching the last hour only since there is no wrestling in the first hour.

I usually glance over spoilers since it is pre-taped

They showed a quick highlight reel of his career and goddam that guy put himself through some stuff. It was like there was nothing he wouldn't jump off of! I'm not justifying him or anything but I can imagine the guy must be hurting from some of that. People criticize the WWE's current style of wrestling but I can't imagine somebody doing the kinds of things Hardy did day in and day out and having a long career. Those guys really do sacrifice their bodies for our entertainment. |
I'm watching that now....
My first thought is....
Dave Batista.
Really? Really. Really.
Big Show... higher then Kane?
I'd say it suffered from a big dose of what's current being overrated.
Also... I never knew Gorilla Monsoon war a wrestler. Should of guessed from the name.
Randy Orton 29... seriously? I'm not even sure i'd qualify him for the list yet.
Hulk Hogan at 23? How is he not number 1?
All together this video just had me scratching my head. I'd think most fanboys could come up with a better list.

It was "made by the WWE locker room". If so, it may be time for Vince to make these guys submit to some drug tests. It wasn't as bad as I expected, though. When the DVD first came out, I googled the results and I was pretty pissed. I actually managed to enjoy the video when I watched it on Netflix, though.
Next up for me: The Rise and Fall of WCW!

I watched that before this one.... that one I really enjoyed.
I gotta be honest, top 50 superstars, I stopped at Jerry Lawler. Who is great and all, but all the stuff before it was like... what the fuck WWE?
I mean... i'd have freaking Lex Luger and the Lex Express over a lot of the guys on that list.
No Ultimate Warrior? No Booker T?
As far as I can tell, no tag team wrestlers. I mean what about the LOD.
The whole thing was just... awful.
I mean... Batista?
I'm not even sure Batista should make a top 100 WWE wreslters list.

Agreed. I mean, I liked Junkyard Dog as a kid but in reality, he didn't really do anything to warrant being great (r.i.p., JYD). No mention of the British Bulldog, Razor Ramon, Shelton Benjamin (a personal fav!), Ultimate Warrior, or Dynamite Kid? I wonder, what the criteria was for "Greatness"?
I guess it was a mix of popularity, crowd reaction, technical skill, and lasting impressions or something. And I guess the newer guys were tossed in because if they didn't have Orton or Batista it would basically be saying, "Our current roster is shit." Politics always make their way into official lists like this. But Batista? He was cool for about a year when he fought Triple H at wrestlemania. After that?

I honestly, have a harder time thinking of wrestlers I wouldn't put above Batista, then I would put below him. Brooklyn Brawler, Barry Horrowitz and.... the Bodydonnas. That's all I got. Oh... and Chuck, from Billy and Chuck... and their manager/partner. Heck, i'd put Mr. Ass above Batista though.
I kinda feel like the list went like this... with Vince McMahon saying.
"Ok, first... who are the guys around now who are big names and we want to push."
"Ok... now we need to add in those guys who are consdered the "Legends" The people who even non wrestling fans will know... except Ultimate Warrior. Fuck Ultimate Warrior. We'll throw in Batista instead. He's like the ultimate warrior, but without the facepaint, gimic, personality and popularity."
"Now, we need to throw in a bunch of old guys, back before wrestling was popular, because if we don't have some old guys in their it won't be credible. Preferably people we can use to refrence the younger guys now... and guys who work with us to reward them."
"all right, now that we've got these 50 people... I'm going to rank them however i damn well please."
I feel like they should of used this video as some sort of start of an "Evil McMahon" storyline where one of the slighted wrestlers came back to the WWE and started where one or more of the slighted wrestlers came back to the WWE and took out the current Superstars up on the list until they got to Undertaker.
