Forums - Sony - 8/24 PS3 SLIM shipment sells out at gamestop

We don't know Sony's shipments for the slim but either way, I think this is a good sign.
It shows there is a demand of some sort at least.

You know that weird feeling in your gut you get like when you're on a roller coaster? I have that feeling right now.

Now...what was the initial shipment?

Edit: @ dorbin2009:

How many people will be willing to pay $300 for a console? Well, 50 million were willing to pay $249 for a console, so...

QFT...

QFT indeed and the funny thing about that statistic is that 50 million were willing to pay $249 for a console and 50% of them weren't even gamers.

OK professor ace show us the proof 50% were not gamers

I can make cracks like that aslo: 100% of the 23 million PS3 owners are nerds living in moms basement

Daddy pays for mortage too =(

And I'm sure you and me know ACE wasn't being literal. Nobody probably knows the exact percentile of PS3 owners who bought the console primarily as a Bluray/Entertainment device. So don't point out the obvious and act like a knowitall.

well he said 50 percent I was going off what he said.  I thought he was the know-it-all by his oh-so-funny crack

Like I said, any reasonable person would know he's not being literal. Are you going to take every non-literal comment, wether they be hyperboles, sarcasm, irony, etc and start saying people are living in their mother's basements? Again, you're totally taking someone else's words, spinning it, and using it to put yourself up higher while trying to put people below you.

u r wrong

his crack is that 50 percent of wii owners are not gamers, he is trying to be funny, ha ha

So I also did the same thing, I was trying to be funny bye my crack.  What was his point with the 50% crack other than to crack at wii owners

So his originalcrack was to put wii owners below him

Fucking Comedy Central removed all the Chapelle videos so I couldn't find the Crack skit >.<

Why do I get the feeling this is the next item to be crossed out on the blackboard?

The Slim is going to increase sales, perhaps giving a long term 50% boost but this is not the 'true launch'' of the console and its unlikely to change the face of the market - despite the pricecut and the new model it is still a PS3.

Where do I find the Blackboard? I want to see it >.<

everyone seems to forget no matter if whateer percent bought the ps3 for blueray player only if they did they wont be buying a second one unless their first one breaks. which was why the ps2 sold so many cause so many had ot replace their old one. plus who besides sony fanboys are gonna buy it anyways? this is my point there isnt a reason to buy this ps3 slim unles your a fanboy and apparently fanboys have spoken on selling it out at gamestop but that doesnt mean anything either. lets say sony only ships 1 million then what after the initial rush how many new buyers are gonna buy it? i mean its not the "it" thing like the ps2 was. people se the ps3 and goes ok ps2 with better graphics. then they see the wii still 50 dollars cheaper and go oh wait here is the wii that ive been thinkin bout getting. even the xbox 360 wont get phased by teh ps3 slim.

all in all by the end of the year we will see the sales just like they are now. well the ps3 slim will sell like the ps3 fat did after the dust settled. and after this xmas when ps3 fails once again to sell mass amounts of units compared to wii and 360 sony will say ok and start to work on the ps4 and if that bombs as i think it will sony will then exit the console wars. leaving nintendo and microsoft.

dick cheney loves me, he wants to take me hunting

@rath

ever since games like LAir & resistance 2 went on the blackboard, it became absolute fanboy nonsense, oh & the mods have stated they will ban anyone who presents that ludicrous thing again

Were you around here a few months before Lair came out? It was by far the most worthy thing of being on that list. Resistance 2 I really didn't see anyone hyping up as a savior though.

I wasn't trying to discredit anything if that's how you took it, take that 50% with a grain of salt, I simply said that because it's 100% believable don't you think? I wasn't trying to make 'cracks', it's just that you read about all the soccer moms buying these Wii's to play Wii-fit on and Mario and Wii-Sports. It's these games that have brought in people who wouldn't game if you gave them a console. So look at the sales of all the hardcore titles on the Nintendo platform: Zelda sold 6 mil? Metroid sold 3-4? Now when games that reach out to the casual crowd like the casual games listed above then I can safely assume that around half if not more are non gamers.

Simple analysis really I'm glad you came to my class student mhsillen
