I see the Wii having a longer lifespan than its competitors - not due to longevity technically (it will be more outdated obviously) but due to the fact that historically the best selling console sells for a far longer period of time.

Well Wii outsold the 360 even after massive price cut, PS3 will increase its sales but we have to see by how much and is the Slim going to be a hit or it will follow the sales of PHAT PS3.

Plus Wii in the West is still to receive: Bundles, Colours, Price Cut etc. etc. I think its safe to say that Wii will get the 50%, with NSMB coming out it could happen this holidays.

If the PS3 slim only takes away potential customers from the 360, it won't do anything to hurt the Wii (Since we're looking at Wii vs PS3 AND 360).

If Sony heavily advertises Bluray, PSEye and Eyepet, LBP GotY edition, Rockband: Beatles, etc they might be able to syphon away from Wii. Wait a few more years for Sony and Microsoft's motion controls.

Look guys, when the PS3 launched, it was $/€ 350 more expensive than the Wii... now the difference is $/€ 50.

no i'm pretty sure the Wii will still reach that 50%, it might slow it down a bit, but it will get there

I would definitely preach caution when making threads like this.

You are under the assumption that millions of people have been saving 299$ underneath their mattress's for the day when the PS3 reaches that price. It's going to take some heavy software titles and good advertising for Sony to start reaping the rewards

I m not saying PS3 will start selling millions or will start selling more than Wii , but just that the sum of PS3 + XBOX360 after price drop will be larger than Wii.. which i think is possible.

Oh I definitely think that the Wii is going to drop to at least 45-44 percent market share when all is said and done. Personally, and I know this is always a horrible gauge for the entire world, everyone I know who has a Wii has it collecting dust right now while they either play or pine for the 360 or PS3.

That said, it could never sell another unit and still be considered one of the most successful systems of all time.
