Actually, the term that was used was "platform." It is not clear whether the platform was PS3 or the Playstation brand.  While the assumption would be PS3 from the context, knowing Sony and what happens when you assume (ass|u|me), that may or may not be the case.

But the game and periphal sales are, which is still ridiculous. I struggle to believe you're serious.

How many games last year did sony release for the Ps2? Only one I can think of is MLB The Show (And singstar). The other ps2 games I can think of are EA. I would assume to intice 3rd party to keep supporting the Ps2 sony would waive royalties or licenses. SW can not be that profitable for them.

Sony makes money on every PS2 game sale. However small that amount may be, they still do.

They are going to continue to lose more money until they can make all that money back when the sales of the ps3 rises due to the price drop. When production for the console goes down, then they will be making more money selling the console than losing money making the console.

i made a thread about this a while back saying that ps3 may actually be profitable (at 400$) with only one game or one controller, or even just the profits from home.

Guess I was right, if they can now afford a 100$ price drop and still make money when figuring in peripherals and games.

Well, the PS2 and PSP sold over a million in combined software sales last week. I don't see how that's insignificant......
