Lol @ all these junk articles popping up left and right. These guys obviously just want hits on their websites. What better way than to jump on the slim hatewagon since it's the newest thing in the gaming news. Hate always brings more hits than praise.

that's not really fair to penny arcade.  they have a pretty loyal fanbase (including myself).  all they do is write their opinions good or bad but honest and delivered in a humorous way.  yes, they are pretty open about their preference for the 360 but they still approach all nintendo/sony products openly and honestly.  i have a huge amount of respect for them because of that,...when everyone "news" site is blinded by hype they come through with a truely honest assesment.

Yeah, you can't really claim that Penny-Arcade is trolling for hits when they have hundreds of thousands of unique visitors every day, and are such a popular website they have been able to create a remarkably successful charity to deliver toys to children's hospitals and create their own gaming convention which is rapidly becoming one of the largest in the world.

On top of that, while they do have strong opinions on things, almost all of their stances can be defended as an informed opinion and do not seem to be related to any obvious bias.

Stop right there !

Penny Arcade is not pro 360. Last gen they were almost anti XBOX, until Gab got one.

It is just that they are shooting Sony a bit for not delivering.

It started a bit like this (see picture), but I don't see any preferences in their post... just what they feel.

They also did this :

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Don't forget they've even released some point and click games.

Even for the PSN, I might add.

They might be a bit biassed, but who isn't?

It's not like they're extreme fanboys

yes, it is pretty sad... im not at all a fanboy of ms or sony, but what he says is beyond stupid in terms of being a journalist (and it seems like he is a 'high' editor of gaming within cnet)... they have more unbaised and professional stuff on kotaku (nothing at all against kotaku, they are good for 'urban' info, just not always perfected)

These are obviously paid hacks working for Microsoft. This is really old, even in the Xbox days their were countless articles touting the Xbox as a superior machine blah blah even when reality on the ground was completely different.

huh? The original Xbox was a superior peice of hardware. It was faster than the PS2, had better graphics, way less load times, and a lower failure rate.

Due to the PS2's popularity, the Xbox didn't have the PS2's vast software library. Doesn't exclude it from being a superior machine, though.

Over 100 Million consoles have been sold so far this generation representing roughly 60% of the console sales that were achieved last generation and it is pretty safe to say that we're close to (or have passed) the point where half of all consoles sold this generation will have been sold. Being that 80% of consoles sold last generation cost $200 or less, and the PS3 lacks the exclusive content or popularity of the PS2 to drive sales at $300, I think it is fair to say that reporters and analysts have overstated the impact that the slim will have.

I'm willing to bet there is a greater increase of console sales this gen than there was last gen from the gen before. Also, only one console so far is at the price sweet spot... and it ain't doing too hot. I'd like to see how a PS3 and Wii can sell at the same price. Also, only one console last gen went for longer then 5 (?) years... This gen all three will be doing that... basically what I'm saying is, last gen means shit in this situation.

You know one of the interesting things about this site is it actually provides analytical tools for the members to use. Based on this years data I see that console sales leveled off, and have begun to decline. In other words console sales have peaked. That said it is probably more likely that there were more consumers for the machines before the beginning of this year then after the beginning of this year. You also so kindly pointed out that this current generation of consoles is already mining the sweet spot in the 360 Arcade. We got their quickly, and frankly the sweet spot taking into account the increase in hardware capabilities is probably more in line with the price point of the Wii console. Well over fifty million people seem to think that was a reasonable price. I also wouldn't wager on a tail providing the panacea you so desire. This is a far more competitive market. Which can only truncate lifespans. Your not going to be getting eight year old current generation consoles. Someone is going to exhaust the market long before then, and make the move to newer pastures. HappySquirrel makes a far better point then your own. Want to make a better point provide some data that supports your idea. I wouldn't even call what you posted a theory it has no data to support it, nor does it seem to have any testable characteristics.

So its gonna be a 75$ price cut? Nice.
