Did Leo-J write all those comments in those thread?

Psrock...it's simple math...if the PS3 start selling MORE consoles than Wii or 360...then it's #1...see that's how it works...every week, they tally up an estimate of consoles sold, and normall...it's Wii, 360, and PS3...so that's 1, 2, 3. Now, if for the rest of the year, PS3 is selling the msot every week, that's called being #1...it might be difficult to comprehend, and you might be a little frustrated on this who 1, 2, 3 thing...but that's what I'm talking about. Hope that helps. Selling 350k to 400 K consoles a week...when the Wii has been average far less, would make PS3 #1...okey dokey.

First, I am confused you are using some many things into one.

First you are using threads about September sales with Amazon sales and Holoday sales.

Which by the way has nothing to do with PS3 ever catching the 360 or Wii.

How can the PS3 win the console war by outsell either consoles in September? And if you don't think the PS3 will sell well starting in September, you are in denial.

You're the one going down ratholes...my original post was that since before Haze, we've been hearing about "watershed" moments that would serve as game changers to the status quo of Wii, 360, PS3...There are amply links of people expecting this to be it...If you don't agree...no problem, but to state that I'm making statements that are totally unfounded wrt to this belief amongst PS3 enthusiasts is ridiculous.  I can only gather that you don’t believe that a sales boost will be long term…

What does the PS3 having a long term sales boost has to do with catching the Wii. I remember the PSP having a long term sales boost in Japan, still not even close to the DS.

I'm sorry...when exactly again did I say the PS3 would catch the Wii in overall sales since inception?  I've gone back thru this thread from the beginning...yeah...I cannot find it in any of them where I said...the PS3 is going to become the number one selling console of all?  Infact, here's the original post that started this off:

"Was Haze thru Killzone 2 all batting practice? If PS3 finishes this holiday season in third again...it's going to be VERY interesting to see what people will concoct next...."

Gee...nothing there about PS3 being number one of all time...nope..I just can't find it anywhere...please point it out.  Seems to me, it's clear what I was talking about?  Which was (drum roll please)...if the moves by Sony don't boost it to AT LEAST 2nd place this holiday season, what will be the next excuse as to why it didn't get there, and what is going to be a rationalization of why it happened...and then the immediate enthusiasm as to what going to turn 2011 into the year of the PS3.

The PS3 probably won't be in second by this holiday season, but it's not going to have much trouble generating 3 or 4 million more sales in Japan by holiday 2010 while the 360 probably won't sell another 500,000 in Japan in the same time.  Of course this increase in the PS3's install base in Japan will bring more Japanese exclusives to the system in 2010 and continuing on for the rest of the gen which will ensure the PS3 will never strike out whether it stays in 3rd, moves up to second, or hits a homer and knocks the Wii out of the park.

The PSP has sold close to 13 million consoles in Japan alone and the PS3 is much more popular with Japanese gamers in respect to the Wii than the PSP is in respect to the DS.

if those don't make PS3 the #1 console...what's going to be the next Grand Thing to make 2011 the Year of the PS3...

And now I'm locking this mess of a thread.  The OP makes little sense, and you kids can't stop fighting.

Update your profile to include your location and age. There are allowances for age and for your first language. Otherwise everyone will assume you are their age, and live where they live. There is no shame in being honest about the generals of who you are.

@everyone else

Seriously why are most of you trolling a poorly contrived post. Are you here for discussion or to just torment other members. Seriously this thread was like watching someone tip over a person in a wheelchair.

@topic

Yeah I get the gist of it Sony has three potential at bats to change this generation around for themselves, and yes the original poster is getting the gist of these forums. There is another holy trinity here. Will these two games and a price cut result in Sony having a chance to hit a home run, and thus get out of the third place rut or even better.

My honest appraisal no it will not, because all these home run swings neglect the fact that they have little merit in North America, and Sony must win North America to get out of its position. The truth is North America is almost half the world market by itself. To win Europe and Japan, but to not hold North America just gives you a stalemate, and Microsoft still holds the lower price point. Which means no matter the region they can still exploit a larger consumer pool in the long run.

Eventually Microsoft will work its way into the bargain pool that has been left to the PS2. They will have a console for as little as one hundred and fifty dollars, and a mountain of ten to twenty dollar games. They will then cease the sales the PS2 is finding right now.

Long story short the hitting power isn't there to change the net outcome. All Sony can really get is a few base runs, but that doesn't get you to home. Sony has to rack up really massive sales in a very short period of time. Otherwise Microsoft will just use its higher score to secure the game for themselves. What Sony really needs is more at bats, and for Microsoft not to score anymore.
