Let me put it into perspective. For 300 euros I went to Mallorca. That includes travel, sleep, food, and enttainment ( boy was there a lot of that) costs for 5 days. The major costs were the travel so I could have been there for a week and a half probably with minor increases in costs. No offense, but a PS3 doesnt even come close to a trip to Mallorca. No console does, or PC.

 

P.S. Hell, there was a $600 stimulus package a year or two ago from the IRS or something.

Thanks for your add on the subject, i've heard the same thing from quite afew of my friends to, the price was always above or around the 50% range, hopfully the price drop does remedy the situation, people deserve to play beyond at a reasonable price, and for what you get with the ps3 now 300 is a deal.

As for the first part of your post i agree with that alot, kids can be so cruel even more so when they do buy really expensive crap they do it to solely show off then never use it again.

PSS I forgot to mention that I was in Barcelona for the trip to Mallorca, so the price of ravel was cheaper than if you are going from the US.

Really?

I spent €300 in 3 nights on beer and food in Germany recently and that doesn't include flights, hotel etc.
Might have to look into Mallorca.

I spent £200 for one night in a hotel which included food and a beer but not the travel. Does that mean I can have a PS3 now, Just kidding.

I have no doubt that the PS3 is extremely price sensitive and this goes a long way to redress the balance. I am not sure that Microsoft can get away with a price increase in the UK for example when Sony offer the slim at £250 even though lots of folks still feel this is rip of britain.

This salvo is not over yet and despite rumours of price fatigue by Sony and Microsoft I think Microsoft are not that tired just yet. This price cut I suspect will reverse the current situation regards sales despite any activity with the Elite price cut especially if the Arcade becomes less attractive.

I think the Sony Sales guys will be patting themselves on the back, I am not sure the bean counters will feel the same way.

err yeah spain is dirt cheap to travel to.

on my side Price was the reason why I didn't get is at launch or since... then I got a cheap 360, so the reason is now that I already have an HD console...and won't pay 300 for one (I probably would have had I not gotten a 360... which I enjoy very much).

Basically it's too late, 100M consoles have already been sold this gen.
