Well if your looking for a system that" plays PS3 games" then this article clearly wasn't written for you, and you should read and say. "ok, but I specifically want a ps3" or "that's cool, but I'm not in the market for a laptop" or "ok, but I realize that these are articles to give you ideas and tell you about the pros and cons of new or interest worthy products written by one person doing their job, and not corporate wide manifestos demanding people to buy things they clearly aren't even looking for"
People on this site seem to forget that most people in the world like to talk about things without even considering them to be confrontational. If the guy that wrote this article discovers that there are nerds on a site saying "Does this man not realize that a laptop doesn't play PS3 games!?, what a moron!" he'd either have a good laugh or a stiff drink.
Grow up folks.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
Cnet is a douche site. Also...why get a Nissan GT-R..when you can get a Ferrari Enzo!
@stof - But if you are looking to buy a PS3 to watch blurays then you intend on installing it in a home theater system or whatever to watch them in the living room or bedroom.
Now if it was a Portable PS3 that played blurays vs the laptop then it would make sense.
But it's not, understand?

CNET is not a douche site
Stop being so emotional jeesh
@stof
PS3 vs Laptop makes no sense.
Even if it did, telling people that buying the item that is 3x the price doesn't make much sense to me either.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

@ Advent Wolf - "With HDMI ports standard, it's easy to hook any of these up to a big-screen TV, and, unlike your PS3, Netflix on-demand and Hulu are no problem. Adventuresome types can even play with installing alternate operating systems--something now missing from the latest PlayStation firmware."

I knew you'd say that, but why go through all the trouble of hooking it up like that and burning up your laptop just to watch a movie?

No...pretty sure it is a douche site. Laptop vs PS3 article just re-confirms it for the 100th time.

I don't get the easy to hook up part... it was easy to hook up my PS3 with HDMI...
I'll rather get Netflix normally, or even buy a 360 and Gold than pay 700 (?) bucks for it O.o
I'm not a film/media buff, but I think most people just want a system that can easily play Bluray, and the PS3 gets the job done. If you're a hardcore Videophile, I don't think you'll be looking at the Vaio anyway.
