About the "Rush feeling" inside the cockpit. GT5 is a driving simulator. When you drive your car in real life, (if you do..) you don't get blur and rush lines in front of you. GT5 looks so realistic it's almost hard to tell it's not real.

| waron said: so to all those people that scream "GT5 have real damage system" i would like to point out two simple things you can clearly see from those videos: 1. damage don't affect handling AT ALL, WRONG. People who PLAYED the game there said that there is mechanical damage. 2. there's no car deformation AT ALL. cars are hitting walls and we can see no deformation on bumpers and front of the cars eventhoug the bumper is half on the street. car hit the wall sideway and doors are fapping all the way but still not a single scratch on them, WRONG. Again peole at the event have said that doors fell off and cars were deformed, as well as paints coming off and scratches.
THAT'S NOT DAMAGE SYSTEM. when car in Forza 3 drive into sand we can even see dirt on the front, we can see scratches when it hits wall, we can see deformation when it will hit the wall. GT5 on those Gamescon videos have non of those. |
Add to that that they were only demoeing Arcade mode at the event.

that bumper should affect car alone, basically it should fall off after a while. @Munkeh111, that's what i'm saying if it's not in all the cars then don't release info in fact sheet that there is damage in all cars when there isn't. |
I don't think it says that they all are, but there are 1000 cars, so it would be hard to include them all, and we want the game sooner rather than later! I read somewhere that they don't, but that may only be referring to interior damage.... I am quite confused WAIT FOR TGS, it's only 1 month away
Games are fake dude...

About the scratch thing, that's no different from bullet damage on walls on shooting games - sprites and textures controlled by a static script. Simulate all possible damage interactions is something beyond the PS3, beyond PC, beyond even the X360 and Forza 3.
Add such feature (script textures, that is) would require little re-programming over current damage models and we aren't even that sure about it since there is no direct feed of GT5 current gameplay.

Well. it's way more realistic then GT5. At least the damage effects how you drive. GT5 damage is just cosmetic crap. It looks like an afterthought that Polyphony just through in to make a few gamers happy.

I always found the damage system in MarioKart to be lacking. You get nailed by a blue shell and your kart hardly gets a scratch. MarioKart = failure.

Have you already played the game?
So in Forza if you drive headlong into a concrete wall at 150mph do you die? Now that would be real damage.
