A few notes, and overall week opinion: IMO, this is a far more telling week of how the X360 will do than last week: software was 1.5m units, and nearly 1m units weren't Halo. This is very, very good for the stability of the Xbox 360, since so many games were bought last week.

#1. Halo had a, IMO, small drop. The % drop in parenthesis is what the drop was after the # of pre-orders were taken out. Think about it, it had only a 30% drop from last week's non-Preordered units. This is very good for the Halo franchise.

#2-3 - The basketball IP sales have begun, and it seems that yet again, normal sports IPs do real, real well.

#4. The only really dissapointing game debut on the list. PGR 4 had a similar opening to PGR3...Which is rather odd. I am unsure if everyone's happy playing Forza instead, or what. If true, PGR4 should easily hit 550k with Christmas sooncommng, but who knows?

#5. .skate has a great small increase. If true, EA should be happy. Skate could reach 500k, but we'll have to see.

#6. Madden 2008 has another mild decrease. It's still definately on-track to hit 2m before it dies.

#7. Spiderman has an aweful debut. With Marvel: UA and Spiderman 3 setting pretty good precidents for sales, why'd this one DOA?

#8 + #10. Uber-sellers Gears and Oblivion hold real well. Expect great sales for a long, long time. OB could hit 2m in the US/Can alone.

#9. Bioshock has it's first real bad drop. With so much FPS sales going to Halo, it's semi-understood. Nevertheless, I still believe BS will have strong sales for the rest of the year.

Also, I'd like to note that half of the top-10 games increased in sales. Also, outside of the top-10, the major players such as RSV continue to do well - Forza Motorsports has YET another increase in sales. It's now 2k/wk above it's lowest point of the year....Exactly like I thought. :)

I saw that ioi had a correction for the sales of Bioshock this week I saw it when I was updating my "future of 360 '07 thread".

What sales do you expect for the elite in japan? Total of 6,3 k ?

That gears of war is what interets me the most to be the honest in this chart. The way I see it all those are new Xbox 360 owners, who bought gears of wars plus one game for their system.
I think your lifetime for Halo is a bit high (unless there is a huge boost during the holidays).

I think the 360 hardware sales are a big story this week. Still rising and now nearly 130k?!?

I think the "Halo Effect" is still going strong, and the RROD scare may be starting to dwindle.

I think PGR 4 is going to have worse than usual legs. Forza is about to get bundled with the system. That will push peoples cash into other genres since there are so many good games out right now.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

About my Halo 3 numbers:

Again, I'm going off of the fact that Halo has always been uber-strong in the US (sold around 6:1 for Halo 2). Think about it: if Halo 3 had similar legs to Gears of War *after* this week, and no increase/decreases, it'd wind up with another 3.0m units without adding much more than what GOW has done (it's charting to wind up with atleast 3.5m LTD, and could wind up with even more).

But again, if there is no Halo 4, and Hardware stays high, it'll do real well.

About the Forza pack-ins - as much as I would be inclined to agree that a bundled racing game hurting another, it doesn't seem that Motorstorm's bundling hurt Dirt at all (in comparison to the X360 dirt).

I see the offsetting nature of "oh, I already have a racing game" offsetting "oh, I love Forza 2, what other game is like it!?".

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I know Gothic 4 is in development and it must be reasonably assumed that the Elder Scrolls 5 is, as well, but there has to be a number of devs out there seeing Oblivion and Two Worlds rocking the charts and salivating. Will we be seeing a glut of new western RPGs in the near-future? Not only do they sell well, but they also push hardware in Europe, which is a key market for MS.

This is kind of out of left-field, but does anyone else get the feeling we might be seeing a 360 version of 'The Witcher' if it sells decently on PC? Porting it would seem to make financial sense and there's clearly a market on the console for these types of games.

I'm so happy that Oblivion sold (and is still selling) so great. It's just so fantastic, my all time favorite game.

Hi I noticed that the elite sold out at Amazon.jp it could be a sign that the elite is well received.
Maybe the 360 sold 6k in japan this week (14/10/'07) that would be pretty well.

Five million-sellers in the top 10, the Orange Box on its way, followed by Mass Effect. Peter Moore is a freaking genius.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
