Forums - Gaming - This is why 360 better price cut soon.

What if you don't need wifi? hard drive? hdmi?

And Arcade comes with storage for accessing Live and doing games saves so the reason for a hard drive is for download games only. Most people access their media from other much larger storage servers on their network.

I have seen this comparison before and it focused on only a segment of gamers who have specific needs.

I could do the same comparison on my setup... 7 consoles are required in my home... 5 TVs throughout the house and two for gaming in my travel trailer when camping... All HDMI with wired networks (Travel trailer has server for Evdo Cellular access)

6 x Arcades $1200, 1 Elite $400 (Can use the hard drive in all 360's so i carry it around for me)... 7 x HDMI cables $200... Grand Total $1,800

7 x PS3 Slims $2,100, 7 x HDMI cables $200... Grand Total $2,300

360 wins... Numbers can be manipulated and it is based on your own situation. Buy the best console for you. Not one based on a comparison that is not your desired setup.

sguy - You are too paranoid.

No, you are immature, and cannot make an argument without insulting someone.

I thought the slim was going to come with the hdmi

I am a loyal SONY fan and will always be.

I am also a PS1, PS2, PS3 and a PSP owner.

Sigh. All of these elements have been present since before PS3 was even release and the concept of value is not enough to spur sales even with minmimal pricing difference.

sguy - I haven't insulted you. You however, think everyone is out to get you. That, my friend, is paranoia.

I think the $50.00 question of Xbox Live is pointless. It's very little money for a better experience.

joke post?

No, $4.50 a month is not a ton of money.

Yes it is. $50 a month for another 3 years is $150. That is quite a bit of money.

Alright, do you have a cell phone? Let's say you pay $55.00 a month at the low end. That's $660.00 a year, and $1,980.00 over three years. Would you give up your cell phone? It is not a lot of money for Xbox live.

Not to interrupt this fun argument.  Cell phones is priced that way because most ppl use them as a necessity.  People no longer need to be tied to a land line and can have access to more then one thing that makes the world go around (Hence why most employers pay for your phone).  You are comparing that with a video game system... In a micro world that is video games xblive and psn are getting pretty close to being the same.  Its up to you if you want to spend money on ms or not.  Better experience is all up to the user. If you are a gamer with a the free multiplayer experience with a gig port I say psn wins. But multimedia yes ms has the upper hand with netflix, facebook and variety of downloadable games applications built right into the dashboard.  But psn has movies, tv shows, downloadable games built into tit too.  For and Extra $30 you can get a media streamer for all of your hulu and netflix.  Plus with the web browser you can see any website and check your email.  So lets compare:

Online gaming: xblive $50 ($50) ------ PSN $0 ($0)= PSN wins

Online Movie and Tv down Loading: xblive $4.50 + Movie/Tv Price by points ($3-6) ($7.50-$10.50 total) ------ PSN $6.99-$1.99 = PSN Wins ($6.99-$1.99)

Netflix and Broswer support: xblive $4.50 + $8 netflix + Limited browser (12.50) ----- PSN $2.50 Stramer + $8 netflix + Free full browser ($10.50)= PSN wins

Downloadable games: Xblive $4.50 + Game Price (4.50+$) ------- PSN Game price ($game price)= PSN cheaper.  (This is up to you depending on the game you like)

Wireless: Xblive $4.50 + Wireless adapter one time pay of $99 ($4.50 + wireless adapter)------ PSN + Wireless included free ($0) = PS3 Win

Cell phones are really not a necessity.

Badge and Onyx - I'll use facebook to talk to my friends and Ps3 to play my games.

Ok, well maybe someone else will buy a 360 to play their games and a standalone Blu-Ray player to watch their movies, but there is still value in buying an all-in-one machine like the PS3. Different strokes for different folks.

Still, what you're talking about is not anything like the feature I'm talking about, so this comment you made "I'll use facebook for the features you are looking for" is incorrect, since the featuring I'm looking for "in-game private voice chat" cannot be obtained by writing messages on Facebook prior to or post match. Your needs of communicating with your gaming friends are not up to the standards I have for communicating with mine, so obviously I need a system in place with less workarounds and more accessibility.
