If this was a flop in Japan then what on earth was MGS4????

I'd assume you're talking about 4.  If we go by what some people in this thread are saying Kojima said  he wanted 1 million first day in Japan and it wasn't even close.  Realistically, MGS4 sold almost on par with previous titles in Japan, pretty good.  There's many titles on PS3 that haven't been able to do that in Japan.

1. MGS4 is a smaller franchise than MH in Japan
2. there were 2,2 Million ps3s @MGS4s launch and 7,8 Million when MH3 launched
3. MGS sells very well in the west, mh does not

If I sell 2 apples and my friend only manages to sell 1 apple...then logically I have been more successful regardless of either of our apple selling expectations.

our apples cost the same, 17 pence each, and we both spent 93p on marketing.

VGC has MH3 at ~710k by the end of last week. Throw another 72k onto the number, and it's at 782k, give or take. I admit I added a 1. Still, at ~122k, it's very, very unlikely that it'll reach that number in 2 weeks.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

what if they bundle the game with the controller AND an apple? That would boost sales.

I thought the 1 million figure was worldwide?

If Dragon quest goes 10 straight weeks above 100k that would be just unbelievable. I really can't wait for the game to come to the west.

Someone explain to me how when there isn't a single console game that has sold 1 million in japan, yet retailers still order 1 million copies of MH3. That was some massive failure by retailers. Luckily Capcom already got their money. Unforutantely this over stock is really hurting the games sales.
