It's nice to see less emphasis on guys and a bit more on video gamer girls. They're not as rare as some would believe...

Well, girls on the DS is well established and well provided for, but where are the girl-friendly games for the Wii?? I'm not talking 'pink' games like Petz and Bratz, but more like Animal Crossing or JRPGs where it appeals equally to both sexes.
EA seems to be the only 3rd party catering to this market currently (Boogie, Playground and of course, 3 Sims games). Surprised Dewy didn't fare better, but do (average) people even know about it?
Nintendo has FE and SMG which are okay, but Wii Fit is the game to watch.
Does that mean the Wii is the new fanny magnet for us guys?
As for mature gaming, every time I see a guitar from the rock music game guitar hero I cant help sing 'play, laugh, grow' from the fisher price commercials.

Girls can like other games too. Even FPS/RTS games. I think guys are just used to stereotyping girls as liking only certain kinds of games.

How about Big Brain Academy, Cooking Mama, Zelda, Swing Golf for instance...
All I know is if someone gives me boogie, playground or the sims, that person has a very serious problem *lol*. I "can't" stand those games.
@Words of Wisdom, very wise spoken ;)

I don't get it, what it so funny about this? For me is a good thing. More girls to play with :)

That was in reference to me i'll take it.. if you are capable of doing simple math, as others have already done in this thread, you'll find that you can multiply the % of male gamers by the number of users per household to find the amount of male gamers per household (shocking how revealing maths and numbers are).. and from that, you will come to the same conclusion as this alleged nintendo fanboy.. |
Well congrats do you want a round of appaulse for that....Congrats Nintendo fan, here is a round, your math was right on, you should be a math teacher.

In an industry that is traditionally stereotyped as filled with guys, girls become a rarity in their minds. It's as though they're surprised to notice that "Hey, girls play this too you know." I actually think that if guys opened their eyes and looked around they'd probably notice more girls. Of course, on the other end of things, not all girls want to be noticed because in an industry full of guys... a girl can get too much attention and it can become unpleasant. It's strange how things work.
Anyway, that's just my silly rambling.
