Yeah I know there isn't a reason to drop the price other than keeping the distance between the two consoles consistent(which isn't a good one anyway.) Most of this is just hopeful thinking because my fat PS2 died a few months ago, and my slim is on the brink of dieing too. Plus it would be nice to have an extra anyway. So what do you guys think?

Oh I'm not complaining about the current price. I just don't want to buy another one and the next day they drop it. Prices are all screwed up this generation anyway. Especially when I can buy a PSP Go for more than I can buy a 360 which is almost at the same price as a DSi.  

No the PS2 just had a price cut a couple of months ago, and it helped it sell 1.6 million consoles (compared to 1.2 million ps3's and 1.3 million 360's) the first half of 09!

Sony price cutted the PS2 in April by $30. I honestly think they will be saving another price cut when the PS2 is not selling really well. Possibly, a new price of $79.99 + Gran Turismo 4 in Holiday 2010?

^^ there is just no stop for Sony until everyone on the planet owns a PS2......
