Forums - Sales - I don't see the price cut being enough for Sony

If you think it is too late then we are just going to wait and see if you are right. I think that the ps3 will skyrocket into space, but hey that is just my opinion.

Well i do they are getting some attention.

I think a lot of people are underestimating what teh press will do.

Sure, a lot of gamers will jump. But at $299 people will see the value because its finally there. The majority of consumers understand price points....so in theory we all knew the bang for th ebuck, it was only it was niche bang. At the time, HD TV was less standard, BD was in limbo and $399 was alot of money for an entry price. Now, BD is the next gen movie format, HD TV's are increasing in sales and $299 is right.

The press will jump on its value on all holiday must haves and people will listen.

That said, only time will tell. But i really think most of us will be pleasantly surprised by the sales.

I have to agree with the OP. It's too late in the game for the PS3. The slim and the price cut certainly will help things, but it's not going to rocket it ahead of the 360.

Of course it wont rocket ahead. The determining factor will be next fall with natal and the wand. This will boost the PS3 ahead of the 360 weekly until the end then.....but to determine what these companies will do in 12 months is crazy and thats what will be the deciding factor. Not this price cut.

So far, the PS3 has barely managed to keep up with the 360 in terms of paraphenilia, and exclusives. This is largely due to the fact that the PS3 is in last place, and therefore not expected to be a big source of income for devs. Like it or not, the Devs are out there to make money, not make a bunch of fanboys slobber. I really don't see the PS3 being ahead of the 360 for very long, unless they do something amazing...and so far, I have seen no indication of that.

I think another big factor will be is that everyone's friends have xbox and people will buy xbox to play with their friends...

Ok and what about the other 36 million PS2 owners? They are going to get an XBOX to play with there ps2 friends?

Im about to lose it, im tired of threads downcasting what may happen to the PS3 after its price cut.

Grow up Leo, take the bad with the good.

360 is still significantly cheaper, plus Microsoft will surely somehow respond that Sony move, there will be spike in Sales but the gap is simply too big.

see, now, you gotta watch that, the 360 is more expensive over the long run if you decide to deck it out and pay full retail. I think the more correct statement here is "The 360 appears to be the better value to the average consumer."
