Forums - Sony - BBC reporting that the PS3 slim will cost £249

The main point in this is that they can't possibly make the go only £20 less

Around the Network

Most of the rises have been to balance the Euro and Sterling. Microsoft claim that the grey import market did not exist but with free trade in Europe it is hard to see why somebody working in Euro's would not take advantage of such a discount.

All these fluctuations in currency take a while to impact the companies in sales. For example the Dollar and Euro have weakened considerably over the last six months. At its peak the Euro was almost 1 to the pound and the Dollar has dropped back some 30c. Most of the currency was lost in a period between November and May since that time the Pound has been recovering.

Sony are doing what every other company does to the U.K. The U.K. only has itself to blame by not joining the Euro. The pound is finished as a viable currency.

Keep dreaming. Thankfully the Euro isn't on the cards, particularly not with Labour on the way out.

It's not a dream - its reality. The pound is bad for the UK economy. Foreign trade is suffering, businesses are setting up overseas and exchange rates hit everyone in the pocket. There would have been no need for this thread for a start and the peopel dissapoined at having to fork out extra. Respected Economists all know the score. So when is this pound recovery going to happen? If the UK joined the Euro ethe Euro would dominate every other currency in the world. But the pound will still be about for years to come with Little Englanders voting the Conservatives back into power and good old Blighty stubbornly hanging on to one of the last remnants of the empire.
