@starcraft

The ps3 has stronger upcoming line-up.

The 360 lineup is in fact pretty sterile.

No its not.

WOW....Name one game this year exclusive to  PS3 that will Outsell L4d2

But Left 4 Dead is like expected to only be the third best selling exclusive!!! ;_; Thats cruel... and pretty unusual too. I wouldn't want you to imprison any Sony fans outside the U.S. as other countries don't have any provisions preventing that kind of punishment.

Listen...Seeilliam..or Squilleece....What ever you call yourself...until you unfuse...I refuse to talk to you...Unless some sort of Bet is in effect...Or you two got married....

And yes...I was being cruel....But Atleast I was not brutal..I could of asked him what the per second ratio of MW2 Xbox 360 sales over the PS3 version would be...

Ohhh dear, you do have a cruel streak. I take it you're not a Paragon in Mass Effect?

Assuming GT5 is released for the holidays, it will handily outsell L4D2.

Personally, I don't see it happening given the GT Portable release for the holidays, but it's not out of the question.

Either way, one game does not make a line up filled with "wow" even if it's your personal most anticipated game of the season.

Considering that both the PS3 and the 360 will have almost identical line ups minus a handful of exclusives, it's still pretty pointless to say one platform or the other has a poorer offering based on anything other than personal preferences.

Ok...Now your bringing up games with no release dates...

And he just spew fanboy nonsense so I asked asked a simple question....And yes GT5 would....but GT5 would go up agaisnt ODST anyway

It's funny how optimistic people still are about the X360 and second place.

I guess it's hard for people to imagine, but please, close your eyes, imagine in your head that PS3 outsells the X360 by 1 million consoles this Christmas - what would the feeling be among you? Same as 2008 - that PS3 has momentum while the X360 'is dead' and destined to third place this gen.

The gap would be less than 7 million.

End of 2010: 4 million

End of 2011: gap erased.

^ Thats just the moral system, good/bad.

@Slimebeast, seriously predicting 2 years into the future is a crapshoot. You have far too many game, price and accessory variables in the mean time.

Mass market price, man. $399 has a psychological barrier even with Blu-ray.

$299 will fly off the shelves.

And what makes you think that the already mass market price Xbox 360 would just stop selling...Sony released two of the Most Proclaimed Big guns this year already...and their sales actually went down....while MS had two big exclusives, One JRPG which was the 4th in the series and associated with the PS brand..., RTS of Halo and Ninja blade which bombed....And sales went up...

What's the debate here, until Microsoft release a slim revision and/or Natal they're dead in the water as they cannot reduce the price much more on the 360 without it becoming unsustainable long term. Those doubting the effects both short and long term of this price cut by Sony sound very much like the pro Sony camp who doubted the 360 price cuts last year would do anything other than a small spike in sales. This is a huge effort by Sony to break Microsoft and I applaud their efforts as they've done a fantastic job to get to this price point and a third hardware revision inside of 3 years.

4 words: price elasticity of demand.

What mass market price means is that revenue falls when they lower the price (decreased effect) now price elasticity falls the closer the console gets to the optimum. Since the PS3 showed a price elasticity of roughly -1.07 therefore with a 25% cut the total sales in the longer term will likely be ~20-25% higher than they compared to say Juine this year when the sales were following a more natural curve with fewer slim/cut rumours. Especially as the market has reached the half way point in terms of sales.
