Forums - Sony - Guess the PS3 price cut!

Okay, the Sony conference will be starting shortly, so why don't we all guess what will be happening with the supposed PS3 price cut and introduction of the PS3 Slim?  Take a guess at both the US and European prices.  Please note that I have guessed before, but with the latest information, I will make this my final guess b4 the Conference.

I will start:

US:

  • 120Gb PS3 Slim - $299
  • 80Gb PS3 Phat reduced from $399 to $299 with free game (limited stock)
  • 160Gb PS3 Phat reduced from $499 to $399 with 2 free games and extra controller

Europe:

  • 120Gb PS3 Slim - 299 Euros
  • 80Gb PS3 Phat reduced from 399 Euros to 299 Euros with 2 free games

UK:

  • 120Gb PS3 Slim - £249
  • 80Gb PS3 phat reduced from £299 to £249 with 2 free games

In short, the new PS3 Slim will replace the 80Gb PS3 Phat in Europe when stock is sold out, but Sony need to make it a better incentive for people to buy the Phat systems so that the Slim replaces it, hence the free games bundled in.  I also expect UK stores to reduce the RRP price to around £229 and even bundling in a free game or so.  I also think that there is limited stock of the 80Gb pack in the US at the moment and we could see even further price cuts in the 80Gb pack by as much as $50 to clear the stock.

Come Xmas, I fully expect there only to be the Slim available in Europe and the Slim and 160Gb pack in the US, with it disappearing come the turn of the year.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Around the Network

Nothing to guess for Europe, as the PS3 is already 299 € in several countries for a few days (mostly in Southern Europe from what I've seen).

Anyway, I agree with your predictions.

They all sound reasonable, although some in the UK may be dissappointed it's not £200 considering how cheap 360 is (although rumour has it they're uping the price of the Arcade).
