Forums - Nintendo - Wii price drop in Canada + Camalot dev talks Golden Sun

From what other people have said, some retailers raised the price to $289, but the MSRP was still $279. I haven't been paying attention since I got mine, so I wouldn't know.

So a $10 price drop... kind of pitiful, but at least they're doing something. That's more than we can say for just about every other product in the country.

All this is nothing compared to game prices, of course. It's time we had parity on those. I'm not paying $40 for a $30 game again.

Around the Network

Maybe this is less a price drop and has more to do with the Canadian dollar trading really well against the US dollar. From what I heard it was trading even at one point a few weeks ago.

Well I think I speak for most Canadians when i still think that is too much. I mean in the US it only cost 249.99$ which remains what 20-dollars less then this price cut and while I can appretiate maybe their being higher taxes then in the US I don't think any more then 10$ extra should be charged. Anyone who argues that the US market is bigger they are right but per capita the Canadian market is on par with or in some cases selling superior to the US market.

So Nintendo wheres the 10$ software price cuts to bring software costs more in line. I honestly am not upset with Nintendo because neither of their competitors are doing anything to help us Canadians out so why should I expect Nintendo too. But it is going to have a negative impact on Nintendo Canada much like it is on any other company who doesn't bring their prices more inline with the US.

I personally know a few people going south to buy their consoles. This means losses for Nintendo Canada which operates seperate from Nintendo Of America. It may lead to a boost in NOA's sales but could be pretty bad for NOC.
