Forums - Nintendo - Nitendo Minute 17/08/09: About Hardcore titles.

I don't like how he/she tried to sound matter-of-fact with their question:

"We see this. Gamers see this."

I have the disappointing notion that the term "hardcore" has simply divulged into games that are either First-Person/Third Person Shooters, some type of Open-world Sandbox game, or something with excessive violence.

This what's "hardcore", what isn't nonsense has been discussed to death and has annoyed Wii owners long enough.

If anything, the competition's lineup is looking thin, with the majority of software being pushed into 2010 because of two first-person shooters within blockbuster franchises. No other titles stand out to me personally either. However, I find myself anticipating what is coming in 2009 for the Wii the most.

Fuck off IGN, you do not represent us.

Please ignore Craig Harris. He does not represent IGN.
Matt Casamassina and Mark Bozon are IGN Wii.

You do not mess with Denise. She seems to have the answers. Maybe we'll see her at E3 2010.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Yea why do people keep forgetting about New Super Mario Bros Wii... I mean come on that is like the bread and butter right there. Can't wait for that game haha. Not to mention 3rd parties have some pretty good looking titles coming.

I guess people will just keep asking this until all those 3rd party games on PS3 and 360 make there way to the Wii (which they won't) and even if they did they would twist the question around. Oh well. Wii has a good lineup for me for the rest of the year and that's all that matters I suppose.

i love how she says "i'm really sorry to do this again." She must be following the forums somewhere. IGN got owned again.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

lol at some of the comments on IGN. Anyway, yeah, looks like 3rd-parties will deliver the goods this year.

I know. IGN keeps charging at her while screaming, and she just calmly plants IGN's face in the mat with a graceful twist of her wrist, then straightens her gi.

Your aggression is your weakness, IGN-san.

The argument is from children is maturity state. I don't know how many times it's been repeated, but this is the process of the child mentality when the next stage is growth comes along. It's the last remnant of waaaahhhh I want everything my way as it is.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

It is, but then again it's been a thin year on the ground for Wii titles from Nintendo anyway. Fortunately, and equally true for the year as a whole, it sees a strong 3rd party lineup. I'm well satisfied between NSMBWii, Spirit Tracks, TvC (or Phantasy Star 0, if it arrives in time), and TMNT.

EDIT:

I would like to reprint this comment by IGN Commenter trip1ex, who expresses my opinions quite neatly.

"Also yeah the podcast is getting old when half the time you just rip Nintendo. Quit beating the dead horse. We all know Nintendo is Nintendo. And most of us do what you do. Play games on other systems when the Wii's well runs dry.

Do you have to constantly bitch about them? IT seems like you could do something more productive on your podcast other then complain about Nintendo. .... unless, that is, you're doing it to save face with your co-workers on the other platforms. Then go ahead. We don't want you guys looking too wimpy.

But maybe instead you could quit pretending that games like Conduit or MoH:Heroes 2 are any good. That might satisfy your coworkers. I mean I don't think even your coworkers would have given higher scores to those games than to WiiSports Resort. Harry Potter and WSR getting the same score? Virtua Tennis beating out WSR by a 1/10 of a point? Really? Talk about paying off Olympic judges. I demand an investigation into these shenanigans. Even your coworkers know what the better game is there.

Guys time to think about another day job. MattC seems too preoccupied with accumulating electronics for his crib than to bother with playing Wii games. He just fantasizes about what he played 10 years ago on the the N64, doesn't like any new ideas from Nintendo and constantly whines about Nintendo or inflates his ego by teasing us readers, that he, MattC, knows of an upcoming game that will rock your world.

Can't wait for the next Harry Potter Wii game. Over and out."
