Forums - Sony - PSP 3000 or 500GB HDD FOR MY PS3?

Why not consider getting a smaller HDD (say about 250GB like I decided to go with which cost me about £35) and also go with either the PSP-3000 or the PSPGo if properly priced

I'd go for the HDD if were you.

I agree with this.   That way you can have both and for probably cheaper than just the PSP Go if you went with the PSP-3000 and a 250GB HDD.

Best option, i mean 500 gigs is way to much.

500gb?! why the f*** would you need that much space? To download the human g-nome?

i still haven't used up all the space on my 60 GB HDD... but I have an external NAS that I store all my data on.

either way, i'd still probably get the psp.

Well, does the PS3 use SCSI or EIDE interface for the drives? Either way, a 500 GB drive can be had in the US for about $80 plus tax, or the difference between the 3000 and Go. (As someone who just bought 2 drives of that size yesterday, I'm confident on the price.) The cost savings in going down to a 250 GB only seems to be $10 at retail, which isn't enough to get a decent memory stick for the 3000. (An 8 GB stick is about $25 at Amazon.) So I'd say to save up a little more, and go for the 3000 with an 8 GB stick, and then the drive. I would only reverse that order if your PS3's drive is already stuffed to the gills, and there's nothing you want to delete from it.

And for those recommending the PSPGo, I have to respectfully disagree. While it seems to have some advantages (including more memory than the PSP combo I did), you are locked into paying only what Sony will charge for games. If a store has a UMD blowout, the 3000 will let you take full advantage of that sale. Plus, you have access to used games and the ability to sell your games back if you don't like them. (That, and I have this nagging feeling about anything that slides breaking...)

Best and smart option.
