Petrol was the worst. When the US was all upset about "gas" prices a few years ago, the UK's price was over five times as much.

true, i remember that they complained that 1 gallon of petrol was for more than 1$ - when i had to pay 2$ for 1 litre of petrol which is about 1/4
of a single gallon. americans are ridiculous whiners in many cases.
