Forums - Nintendo - Madden NFL '10 Review on the Wii is pretty good.

Madden games just about always get in the 8s on ign. While the 360/PS3 iterations seem to have a decent amount of effort put into them every year and probably deserve the scores, the Wii certainly doesn't deserve a low 8. The game looks worse than some of the GC madden games... pathetic.

Game Informer gave it 6, 6.5.

And that was the score I thought IGN was going to give it. They trashed on it the entire time. Meaning the game must be rubbish. They probably got paid by EA so the review is good. Must explain why every year every Madden on every home console gets the same exact score or around the same score. Even though the Wii version is always crap.

CONSPIRACY! :)

Bring back the ESPN NFL 2K series for a REAL american football series.

2k5 still the best football game ever.

Maybe for it's time, but if Madden axed every innovation they've made in the five years following and mimiced 2K5, it would be an extreme step backwards. 2K5 was great in 2004, but it's grossly outdated as a football sim nowadays.

No.

It still feels awesome and this Wii game has takens steps backward in making it one of those kids backyard games and the HD versions still feel like just better visual games of last gen Madden.   2k5 felt like an actual full blown game on ESPN.  With no compeition Madden has grown old stale and in Wii's case just plain crap.

I liked madden 08, loved 09. So when I heard they were building madden 10 from the ground up for the wii I was excited. Then I saw the the first gameplay footage. As a huge madden and overall sports game fan I was extremely disappointed. I made up my mind right then and there that I was gonna get a 360. Like the review said "its a solid football game but traditional madden fans aren't gonna bite". I still love my wii but my days of only owning one system are over ,at least this generation.

Oh yeah? Please then educate me on the matter. Describe to me how 2K5 offers everything Madden 2010 does and more.

For all those haters out there that are saying the GC versions looked better than the Wii 2010, you want to me post comparison pics and vids that will completely discredit what alll of you just said?

Yeah the game is cartony looking but at least it looks clean, isn't jaggy and is fairly aesthetically pleasing for the most part. Grand Slam Tennis was praised for the EXACT SAME cartoony visuals and nobody complained.... is there a double standard for Madden or something?

Besides all that really matters is how it plays. Call your shots on offense is still there, plus they added call your shots on defense too, also the online is supposed to be improved, and there's more modes. I'd take this over the slow clunky 360 version any day.... just play both back to back than you'll know what I mean when I say the HD versions feel like they're in slow motion.

Sorry but in my honest opinion, coming from a Sporting game fan, this right here just made me dislike the game already and honestly think IGN is being very generous with the game's score.

Road to the Superbowl is the final mode, and I have to say this one is a big letdown in the end. Up to four players can hop in and out over the course of a full season, and when playing poorly the game actually benches human co-op players and requires the teammates to buy them back into the game. It sounds like fun, and on its own it is. When you see what the "season" mode actually includes, however, it becomes painfully obvious just how shallow the mode is. You can go 5-on-5 or 11-on-11, but the only other options come with either a full season, half season, or playoff mode. There aren't trades, any team training, no franchise-like stat tracking or options, and no extended play beyond week-to-week gaming. Local multiplayer is a blast in Madden, and this is still a very entertaining package; it's just too small overall.

The no trades, team training and franchise like stuff... is just for that one "Road to the Superbowl mode."

Or that's how that reads.

I mean a game with no franchise modes or trades in general would be well... stupid.

And that's the reason why this version sucks. You can't create your own team, there is no real season mode, it's shallow, the graphics are marketed towards the wrong crowd, there are no fun modes as IGN said, the controls aren't the best in this version either. What makes people think this game stacks up to the other consoles? It's missing everything.

Madden has always been known to be a hardcore game. It's practically built into people's brains to say Madden is a hardcore game. Now after all these years, EA decides to think that developing the game for people who never purchased it in the first place will make the game sell. Sorry EA but hardcore players were the ones who were always buying Maddens because they always thought it was going to be better than the last Madden. This year totally sideswipes that and actually backtracks the franchise on Wii. You see, tennis can have a simplistic art style like this, because it is a simple game. My 3 year old can play a tennis game. Tennis was always marketed as casual on the Wii since the Wii launched. With Wii Sports Tennis. It had a simple look just like Grand Slam but the motion controls made the games different. This year, Madden doesn't even have motion controls really. The art style for Madden didn't bring anything groundbreaking to the Wii, it didn't even bring anything interesting. Instead for the art style EA gets rid of all the modes that made Madden interesting by putting some ridiculous gimmick instead. Just another marketing ploy by EA.
