Squaresoft, Enix killed their game quality imo.

Squaresoft has been in decline well before the merger. Also enix is only a publisher so I don't see how the quality was killed.

After FF X, Final Fantasy hasn't been enjoyable for me. Perhaps its just coincidence.

How did enix do that though? They don't have any developers to mess up the game or any other final fantasy.

So you think the entire Squaresoft team stayed the same after the merger?

Not really... no. Many actually lost jobs/quit when they were close to going/went bankrupt. The merger was an effect of that so many think it was because of the merger. It wasn't enix because they don't have any big name developers to replace the teams with. And as I said before, squaresoft was already in decline before the merger.

I'm probably biased because FF X is my #1 game of all time, then they went MMO with FF XI and FF XII played itself...I'm a bit bitter.

I agree that FFXII wasn't a good FF game. To be honest, it could have been great, but matsuno(the main developer) left square-enix before it was finished. That affected the end product by a good amount because everybody else had to fill in what he would or woundn't have done.

No....since they theve decided to drop all there creative talent to instead rerelease Ports, remakes,...they sold out to greed..has nothing to do with consoles

Square Enix, themselves, has never actually made any of those remakes. They always outsource them to a smaller company to do it. They did the same in PS1 era, and still do it today. They do it now, because they can afford to sponsor projects for them by other devs.

The creative team that makes the main games is still there.

The talent's there. The problem is they're taking so freaking long to get these games out that people tend to ignore them in favor of other games :/

I'm waiting for my KH3 ASAP.

Keep on waiting. It's likely going to be for next generation platforms at this rate.

Nope, it was published by Enix.

Square. No contest. Secret of Mana alone might do it for me.

Seconded.

I think Square started going down hill a bit when they merged with Enix. They started releasing sequels (once a sacrilegious idea) for Final Fantasy. I also found they concentrated more on graphics than plot and character development. Maybe they just had too many projects on the go. Regardless, my vote is still definitely for Square.

id go for square they r the reason why i loved ps1 with ff7 8 9 fft and vagrants story, and it seems a lot of ppl have lost their hopes on se, i still think they can make incredible rpgs, i cant wait to play ff13!!!
