No, I own or play a lot of the games he reviews and while most of the time he takes truths and blows them out of proportion sometimes he just flat out lies.
The Conduit review he done is just full of bullshit, 90% of his complaints do not exist in the game or are completely removed thanks to the customisable aspects of the game, something that was heavily promoted for the Conduit but that he completely ignored to suit his bullshit. He didn't even touch on the multiplayer or voice acting, claiming there was no story at all but at the same time claiming the story didn't make sense with the 'only you' part.
He is funny when he blows things out of proportion but when he flat out bullshits he loses any and all humour. |
He only plays the first level or so of some games, it was painfully obvious in his Ghosbusters review. :-p

This is exactly my point. It started with Smash Bros Brawl, when he decided to stop ragging on problems that the game actually had, and just started making shit up to bash, he avoided plenty of big problems that the game actually had, and instead went on that whole "lol, no skill required" side-rant. It was after that that he just started hating on Wii for being Wii, and spent a good chunk of any following Wii reviews trashing Wii, instead of the game at hand

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That sounds about right, and it's the biggest reason I stopped watching his reviews after a few months. Almost every time he reviewed a game I played, I noticed that he was essentially making some stuff up, which is a big turn-off for me. I find it hilarious when he riffs on actual flaws, even (especially?) when he exagerrates them, but for some reason I don't find it funny when he reviews a game that only exists in his head. I guess it's because it makes him seem really lazy.

As you can see, I wasn't just making stuff up for the sake of argument. Look at what Kotaku writes:
"Poor Wii. Still, considering how painful it was to read reviews for The Conduit, perhaps moving to a new platform is in order."
Who said they were leaving the Wii? If anything, HVS sounds like they are incorporating parts of the Infernal Engine into their Wii development, as well as working on 360/PC games. Even if they did no longer make Wii games, how would their skills in game creation miraculously get better by going"HD"?
Kotaku displays an incessant need to bash the Wii for no reason. The only thing they had to say about it, was that HVS made their most recent game on that platform, nothing more.
