Forums - Nintendo - I heard from this guy Wii can do HD.

Is this true?

not a link. just heard it from a guy.

Seriously... who cares if it can? All it would do is kill framerate or otherwise sacrifice more important visual attributes. Games today already lose too many frames in the name of shiny screenshots.

Motion is important, damn you all!

It's totally true, and HVS found extra RAM that even Nintendo didn't know about.

NO Wii can handle it all.

No, it can't. It is locked out of resolutions higher than 576p to the best of my knowledge, and might not be able to even go that high (I am unsure of PAL TV standards). It was a deliberate decision by Nintendo. The GPU itself is capable of outputting in HD standards as I recall though. So with a firmware update you could have the Wii capable of outputting in HD, but as of right now it is absolutely impossible.

Unless that guy is Satoru Iwata, I don't give a damn.

I'm a very big nintendo fan and will not hide stuff but even Nintendo themselves told us that the Wii doesn't support HD. Sorry, we are stuck with EDTV.
