I don't why people think that because the game is huge in NA as it is in Japan. The game sells really good first week in NA and lifetime and with the 5th installment receiving unbelievable hype, that game will be very huge in NA.

Gran Turismo is big in NA, but sales have shown a trend that it's in decline in that region. Europe and Japan are making up a larger percentage of the sales now than it did in GT3. I find it very suspicious the OP had to use a Gran Turismo that came out almost 8 years and is two removed from the current title and one console removed from the current console to use as a comparison point to compare it to Halo's current sales ability in America.

So if the OP is trying to make some dream scenario where Gran Turismo is still capable of selling Halo 3 numbers in NA, dream on. It will never happen. GT5's NA sales will be lucky to be half of what GT3's were.

Did you actually read the OP? He made the comparison of Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 to Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 showing they are near equivalents in NA sales to prove Gran Turismo 5 is big in America. You don't see the fallacy in that argument?

So what I wonder is if the OP's argument is that poor, why is the majority of people in this thread defending his OP, bringing in Forza Motorsport, still comparing it to Halo, and bringing in worldwide sales? Really most of this thread has been a gigantic group effort to skate around the issue, which is that regardless of GT being "big" in America, it's nowhere near as big as Halo and it is currently in a state of decline. You'd like to think people didn't play their console political sides so close to the chest, but that seems to be the case here...and yes, that includes Squilliam too.

Sure. Don't you think using Gran Turismo 3 is a little too convenient though since there have been two Gran Turismos since then that show a large decline in NA sales? Wouldn't that tell us more about the state of GT than GT3 would? I'd like to think that using the Prologue regional percentage breakdown with the average sales of all four main GT's would tell us better how the breakdown in sales will happen than using the last title that had a large proportion of NA sales?

My Op is not a fallacy. I was just using as an example because GT3 has more in commin with 5 then what 4 does. And i was just stating you cant call a franchise not a killer app in NA if it can sell as much as The HUGE Halo 3.

Obviously the potential is dare. And how can you say the NA is on a downwards trend when we have had only one GT game since Number 3.

and we all know that 9 times out of 10 a 2nd installment of a franchise on the same console declines in sales. Then the series sales will rise again when on a new console.

I am not saying that GT5 will sell 15 mill or anything. I am just telling you past trends.

Plus this thread was just to shut up those people who keep saying that GT is not Huge in NA
