Wii Sports Resort is a much bigger release than Wii Fit +
I'm willing to bet that it will go down as the top seller for the Wii for 2009 when the year totals are tallied up.
As for the no price drop; I'll be pretty surprised if we don't see a $199 Wii announced in time for the holiday season.
Ignore all company claims of "no immediate price drop" as saying otherwise would be totally irresponsible for the company. It would be the same as saying "We would like you to pay more today, but if you wait until X specific date in X months, you will be paying less instead." Or, "Don't buy our console today because the price will be less at X in X months. We don't want to sell any more consoles at the current price until the price drop is in effect."
Someone feel free to show me the logic in making an official statement like that because I'm just not capable of seeing it.
The question (for what sounds like a half-joke half wild prediction thread), is whether a $50 price drop makes that much of a difference for the Wii to counter a $299 PS3 slim and a $299 360 Elite (Elite=black case/120GB HDD) with the possibility of the Arcade dropping below the $199 price point.
The other question is whether claiming that two separate platforms combined outselling another platform equates to any sort of victory. If they hit their annual projections, all three companies can claim victory. As the score stands, Nintendo has been lowering projections, SCE has a LOT of work cut out for them if they want to hit anywhere near their projection, and MS will likely hit their target.
