Forums - General - I hate Youtube (Possible boycott thread)

I hate the whole 'Boycott' thing, but I really am considering to try and use other video hosting websites wherever possible.

The reason? The hideous amount of trolls on the website, it's almost like they have no trolling policy what so ever. I hate going on to profiles and watching videos and having to read the worthless opinions of seemingly 'pre-pubescent' 40 year olds (with an 8 year old personality) trolls who are only trolling because they are sexually frustrated individuals and lack any 'man credentials'. So they spend their free time going onto videos with any kind of opinion and leaving stupid comments that are often only there to offend because they know full w ell they could start and win any fight in real life. And it's not just one or two trolls, you can literally go onto any video and find extremely offensive comments. I mean any video with a famous black person such as Obama and you are very likely to find the trolls post comments full of the N bomb.

I know I could just stop reading the comments, but sometimes you want to, for example if its a trailer for a film you want to see you might want to read the opinions of people who have seen it. Not many other video hosting websites have this kind of crap from trolls because they actually care, so I may just start going to them. Oh and when you actually flag things up nothing seems to happen. I think using other sites where possiblke is the best solution for me now.

Ah well, what do you think?

Eh, the comment section really isn't an important feature of YouTube in my mind. Sometimes it's an amusing diversion, but it's important to get out before all your brain cells commit suicide.

Hardly seems like a good reason to forgo all that free video content.

Well I'm not going to forgo all the free content per se, their are plenty of free video hosting websites on the net. Also, anything worth watching often finds it's way onto these other sites as well. I will still go on if someone links me a video and so on.

I agree, and you know what I do? I don't read the comments.

I know what you mean. Some people leave ridiculous comments on my videos. Before, I used to reply to them, but now I just don't care. If people don't want to read the video description, then screw 'em!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

I actually find them pretty funny...

I understand what you mean, and I've tried not reading them. But sometimes I just have to, it's like if someone posted an interesting article on this site I would also want to follow it up by reading peoples opinions. I guess that sort of makes me my own worst enemy doesn't it?

I think perhaps what I'm really looking for is a site with a bit more maturity.

I do the same too.

Just today, I was watching some of the Michael Jackson funeral footage. I saw 3 things:

1. "Let's hope he finds little kids in heaven."

2. "Get MJ ringtones at *****"

3. *Racist comment that I couldn't post here*

And I didn't really get worked up about it. I'm used to reading terrible things on Youtube. Just mark them as spam, or put a thumbs down on them. A video hosting site for hundreds of millions of people could never be well moderated anyways.

Oh that's another one that gets me, no matter how much someone explains and annotates their videos, you can still guarentee people will think their smart by not reading and just posting stupid replies.

I think I've read the comments on videos maybe twice. I don't really go there for the enlightening conversations. If I want that, I usually take a video and post it somewhere that I think I can have a discussion.

I like gamefaqs but the message boards are filled with idiots, but I'm still going to go their for faqs. Same for youtube.
