Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg on June NPD Xbox 360 Numbers

"GO: What's your current attach rate [the number of games sold per Xbox 360] at retail?

AG: Our attach rate was 8.6 in June, compared with 6.8 for PS3 and 6.4 for the Wii."

Gotta link bro? Just curious

Keyword "Inches".

when there is only a foot inches is a lot.

that's what she said.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

i think its cuz ps3's hardware sales have slowed down.

I thought that 189.7 million number was shipped?  How is that even comparable to what NPD reports for the 360? Shipped vs sold, NA vs. world,...

The chart below shows the attach rate according to VGC numbers for each console as of the first week of August of each year, plus how much it increased from the last year.

  X360 increase PS3 increase
2006 2.97 2.97 ~ ~
2007 4.12 1.15 2.05 2.05
2008 6.68 2.56 4.57 2.52
2009 7.79 1.11 6.24 1.67

From this we can see that the PS3 did indeed gain .56 games sold per console on the 360 since last August, but we can also see that there are no definite, observable trends, so where it will be at next year is anybody's best guess.

All I have to say is: Why are they comparing the PS3 attach ratio as of July 2009, with the 360 attach ratio of December 2008? That's like 9 months of 360 software sales they are excluding to make it look like the PS3 attach ratio is much closer to the 360's than it actually is.

I love the negative parties, as usual if it's a + for Sony, they're bound to show up

*shakes head*

OT: Good. Things should keep looking up for them, thus, the industry moves forward.

Why so sesitive? The only "negative" thing was the joke of Squilliam which, if you look at it from a subjetive way, was funny.

At this point, if the PS3's attach rate is climbing it's because they are not selling enough consoles. So the news isn't all that flash.

Come back to me when the PS3 hardware is selling 150K+ week in week out and the attach rate is still climbing, then I will go oooo-aaahh.
