Forums - Gaming - Which game based movie will turn out better...GOW or...GoW?

Gears....its been stated by Ratner that he's gonna change the ending to take the franchise "to a different direction" which translates to me as "I'm gonna rape your childhood"

Though I'm pretty sure God of War will come out first...Cliffy is not gonna let that film be release until it's near perfect.

Neither of the movies will be R. They will go PG-13. Both directors are studio stooges. They shoot well, but they shoot for the least risk and safest box office success. Out of the two directors, I would rather have Len Wiseman for these types of movies. Ratner's skill is not really suited towards serious action, which God of War would need.

God of War I hope, because the setting is cool and it could become a really epic move. Gears of War is so cliché.

@disolitude: there's a Double Dragon movie? XD

Fuck yeah, there is. Starring Scott Wolf!

I don't care what anyone says...I liked the DD movie. The adventures of "Bimmy" and Jimmy with T1000 as bad guy...how can you go wrong.

This is probably the best realized opinion on the Gears and God movies... I agree completely.

Both will suck and flop!

i will say this - without huge budget, great CGI, right actors and actresses those movies will fail hard, especially God of War considering what we've seen in games so far(same goes to Dante's Inferno live action movie).

Well one thing you have to consider is the directors. Both usually do 100+ million dollar movies. So no, CGI and visuals wont suck... Story and characters on the other hand...

A variation on the dude who's family gets killed so he goes on a homicidal rampage of revenge vowing to take down the one responsible. Yeah, I've seen the Punisher, it wasn't that good either.

Yes yes God of War has some nifty variations and subversions of the main theme, but not enough for it to be source material for great drama.

Still as long as it gets mediocre reviews I'll be hitting the cinema to see it. If the reviews totally tank I'll watch it on Blu-ray.

Because I don't know the Gears story I'm unlikely to go to the cinema to see it even with OK reviews.

Edit: one thing to bear in mind is that to make a movie of similar calibre to either game will take a budget at least twice (maybe even three times) that of the game development budget. Is the producer really going to invest that kind of green in a VG adaptation?.
