Forums - Sony - Sony's marketing should take advantage of defective 360s.

I have gone through 2 failed ps3s and I'm currently waiting on the slim before repurchasing (hopefully that one is more reliable than the 60gb). It's sad that people still think the ps3 is beyond failure. It has it's strong suits but dependability is not one of them unfortunately

everything eventually will "break".

but then we have numbers for the failure rate sony numbers or nintendo this gen are not big.

even if you put sony and nintendo numbers together and multiply them by 5 u won't get it.

I find it funny, all the people who are saying "what PS1, PS2 problems, me and my friends all have one and it never broke!"

Yeah, and there are people and their friends with launch 360s that work, if they say "oh failure rate isn't an issue we all have working 360s from launch" you would not hesitate to laugh at them (i know i would tear into them for being in denial).

Early gen Ps1 and PS2 were built like crap, period. they fixed a lot with the newer models but the failure rate was unacceptable for the first few years.

Even though the failure rate was high, it was still reasonable for some people to never have any sort of problems.

One of my friends has had his N64 break twice, his gamecube once, and his Wii twice, he now says all Nintendo hardware is built like crap. In reality he was just extremely unlucky, nintendo hardware failures are extremely rare compared to other companies.

Case studies =/= evidence.

yup had to buy 2 PS1s and 2 PS2s, only time i've had to rebuy a console during the gen that it happened.  PS2 was quite notorious for failing actually, kinda hard to argue that one.

I learned tolerance of defective consoles during the PS1 + PS2 eras.

Actually, my 360 has been no more problematic than my PS2, and less so than my PS1. And, hell, at least Microsoft admitted they had a problem and took care of it for me.

It always surprised me whwn people talked about PS1/2 issues.  I never had any.

The only problem I had with my launch PS2 was when the lens went out on it. 6 years after I got it.

The replacement PS2 I got was a slim and the only problem it had, was I bought a 60 gig PS3.

lets not act like ps2 or ps1 or in fact any system in HISTORY had a defective rate of anything close to the xbox 360...

This thread is flame bait true but your just not telling the truth... Sonys systems were way less the 360 thats a fact.

I didn't say it was near the 360 failure rate. I suggest you learn to read.

Put a PS3 case around it and sell it as a PS3 in Africa.

I wouldn't be so sure.  It's pretty much impossible to get any numbers that would be reliable on things like this though.  I wouldn't be surprised if the first PS2s were worse than the 360.  Sony was certainly faster to fix the issues with the PS2 though.
